help - mac and video camera

Hi, I am new to Macs so I am lost. I bought a Panasonic video camera, SDR-H40, I cannot download videos to my Mac, the computer does not recognizes the camera conected. Any advice? thanks, Joaquin

As you can see from the following link, your camera is not officially supported by iMovie, as that is the most likely software you'll be using I think.

Maybe manually copying them to your HDD (external would be best, if not a MacPro with more than one HDD) and then using MPEG-Streamclip to convert them to something editable for iMovie.
