Syncing Ical, Address Book on 2 Macs

I have just bought my wife an iBook :-).
Now I want to be able to sync iCal and Address Book between my PB and her.

I could buy .Mac but I don't want to pay £69 p.a. just for this feature.
There must be a better way, can you tell me what it is?

set up a webdav server on your powerbook, or transfer files (you'll find them from your user account's library) manually between the two.
