The battery has gona past its replacable amount of cycles (300) and now Apple Deem it unworthy of Replacement.

Nothing you can do about it, its not faulty.

Matt hit the nail right on the head.

Sorry bud, you'll have to either buy an Apple battery or take your chances with a cheaper 3rd party unit.

Use the student discount to reduce the cost of the replacement for the part?

It's $120 @ Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Rechargeable-Battery-MA561LL-MacBook/dp/B000RJTZZ0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1245990188&sr=8-1), no shipping no tax (in most states).

With Student Discount, it's $116 from Apple, but you'll have to pay sales tax most likely.
