Iphone 2g firmware 2.2.1 to 3.0 guide please

HI everyone here...i've gone through the forum and i dont understand is iphone 2g 2.2.1 to 3.0 firmware. when i connect my phone to itune 8.2 SHOULD i click on update or restore FIRST.. which process 1st??? have already download the 3.0 firmware in itunes.. please guide me thanks

Itunes cant restore without updating the iPhone OS first, if you dont mind losing your data press Restore and it will upgrade it and restore it. If you just want to update press update. Remember that you can back everything up. (make sure you re on iTunes 8.2)
