'info' is unbelievably sloooooowwwwww

I've got what is supposed to be the 'fastest personal computer . . .' - Dual 2gig G5 and recently, whenever I do a get info on anything - even an empty folder, I get the beachball of eternity for several minutes. I have recently installed Norton Systemworks 3.00 and I think that's when this problem started. I'm running 10.3.4 but it did the same with 10.3.3. Is it Norton making this happen? I've got Macaroni doing all the regular daily/weekly etc maintenance routines.

Any ideas?

it could be norton, it used to slow down my computer like crazy too until i uninstalled it.

Yes, I have one good idea. Flush any and every trace of that wretched norton from your system. It's the worsed software you can ever install. I would argue it's more damaging to your system than it's supose to help. EVERYONE I know that's used it has had nothing but trouble. It sticks it's ugly fingers into the depths of your system and interferes with anything it can.

But just so you know, I am VERY BIASED against norton.

P.S. One of the first things I always ask people when theycome to me with a computer problem is "do you have any norton products install?". I don't ask "do you have a virus", "is your computer plugged in", "are you running a windows operating system", or even "have you been randomly deleting system files"; it's always first "do you use norton?"!

Norton for PC has always been good (still is??) but Norton for the mac is a disaster.

Norton 2.0 or wutever back in the days of os 7.5.5 was good. Ever since then its gone to crap :(

It's not that norton is any better on another platform, it's just that the poor functionality is less noticeable in light of more serious problems and issues. When you're running norton in windoze, it (norton) does seems like heaven.
