It should be RED IF IT GOT WET
it should be WHITE IF IT DID NOT GET WET.

I'll add that as your touch gets older, even the humidity in the air will start to change that strip to red. I suggest some silver paint on a long slender modeler's paint brush if your strip is red but the Touch has never gotten wet.

No you won't be able to get it replaced because only half turns red when it gets wet.

iPod touch 8 GB $149
iPod touch 8 GB (2nd gen.) $119
iPod touch 16 GB $199
iPod touch 16 GB (2nd gen.) $149
iPod touch 32 GB $249
iPod touch 32 GB (2nd gen.) $199

These are the replacement costs. You will need to go to the Apple Store and pay thae replacement price. It is cheaper to go this route, but only the iPod will be replaced. You could also buy a new one.

here is the link I got the info from, http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/

If you can bare waiting a few months, the third gen iPod Touch should be coming out soon.. I'm going to sell my first gen soon and wait for the new iPod Touch.
