I think the bookmark menus in safari are faster, but I wouldn't call that a "significant" improvement. Still won't run my favorite game (Links, which ran in Jaguar) natively.

Maybe it's just me, but ever since I updated, orange juice tastes better, and I SWEAR my hair isn't graying as fast!

well, it still takes 5 entire seconds for me to drag the URL into the bookmarks window. I get a beachball and everything, but at least I can drag more than 5 things on the finder desktop without crashing. That's nice.
I used to get an occasional freezup, where the mouse would still move around, but nothing was clickable and i'd eventually have to hard reboot.
Oh, and yesterday, while the update was installing, I got stuck in exposé mode. Fortunately, I had the terminal open, and could alt-tab to it. So I was able to killall Docks, and everything returned to normal. Hopefully that nastiness got fixed, too.

i kinda expected more from a ~40mb update. It's a little better, I definitely would recommend that everyone install it.

I've noticed that Mail is more responsive; otherwise, I haven't noticed much change from 10.3.3.

Safari (which I don't use) is faster.
OpenGL (Which I do use) is slower.

Not much difference, but it's nice to be up-to-date. :) Like another poster said, 40MB for this? ;)

After uploading the update and rebooting, my PB took forever to get moving. I was not happy. I repaired permissions (nothing to report), and keep on working.
I work occasionally in Classic, and it was not fun in 10.3.4. I rebooted into OS 9 and continued working. It crashed when working with a massive photo file. Gotta get Adobe CS for OSX!
But the reboot this morning was fine, and now everything seems normal.
(By the way, no changes seen to Safari. I've always found it very fast compared to IE.)
If you experience no problems now, and you work in Classic frequently, I would hold off. Otherwise, go ahead and update.

I don't use Classic a whole lot (the only thing I use it for is to play some old games that will never be ported to Mac OS X) - perhaps I should try it and report back when I return to my Mac.

My PowerMac G4 now goes to sleep when I tell it to the first time, not like before when I had to tell it to sleep 2 or 3 times (kinda sounds like my 2 year old niece)

I had forgotten about installing the update and when I logged back on (several hours later), I noticed that everything was lightning quick. Mail and Safari are working a lot better for me. Oh, and the startup menu and log-in seem to load a lot faster.

The final option would have been of greater interest if it had been split into "Haven't installed it" and "I don't use Mac OS X". Those left in pre OSX mode are still a significant minority that Apple needs to convince.

The 40MB size of the update may have changed a lot of things under the hood. For example, advancements to Quartz may have taken a hefty amount of that, which may explain the better Safari/Mail scrolling performance.
People download these point updates expecting something exciting to happen and then find that their system seems exactly the same. It's time to get back to our lives.
Mind you, I'm still have convinced they've made the pinstripes ever so slightly more prominent and changed something about the colour profile..

updating the os is cool and all, but i could use an ical update. i wish there was a way to change the font. the standard text is so thin and hard to read.

Here is what I have noted: [I'm on a PowerMac G4 450 with ATI Radeon]
• Menus are significantly faster to appear the first time accessed and generally very snappy™ now.
• Safari is faster at just about everything. Entering text into this text box just now is no longer painfully slow (although it may have been 10.3.3 that fixed that...)
• Windows now drag much smoother and Expose is much smoother. This must be down to the updated OpenGL and new graphics drivers.
• Scrolling is slightly faster. Very noticeable on my iBook 500.

i don't know about the pinstripes, but i agree w/ you for sure on the color profile change. On my powerbook 12" I've really noticed it. Don't really like it, oh well i guess thats why they let you calibrate it yourself.
Expose is way smoother when i span my display onto a 19" crt running 12x10. it used to be real choppy on this monitor, now its silky smooth! cool deal

It's most definitely better for me.
Networking works as easily as it worked in Jaguar. I can use Finder's Go menu and Connect to my other machine very quickly. It used to be that i could get to it using the Browse button but the Connect button hadn't worked since 10.3.
Games also seem quicker although I wouldn't say that they're extremely fast.

Maybe it's just me, but... (I keep a record for fun):
G5 1.8 Single CPU - 512mb RAM - stock
Boot Up time after update, restart, repair permissions, restart again:
After 10.3.3 - 54 Seconds Boot up
After 10.3.4 - 43 Seconds Boot up
This is from stone cold. Shut downed system. From pressing metal button to until everything has stopped loading (MenuMeters stops reporting 100% and system noise stops... G5 owners will know what i mean).
I am quite impressed personally. It's around 43 every time i restart now, so not just a fluke.
Also, safari image rendering is much faster for me (by much, i mean noticable!)
Anyway... my thoughts on the update

Well, it at least feels like login is faster, but I can't tell for sure. Haven't noticed anything else. Surprised me that 18% voted "Don't use OS X or haven't updated" though. I didn't think there were that many people still using Mac OS and most of the people visiting a mac community site are probably into this stuff enough that they would install an update.

There are probably a lot of gun shy people since the first 10.2.8 update. It's been all good for me. It feels as stable as 10.2.8 was. However, there are still people who haven't updated to 10.2.8 for whatever reason.

Where are all the people who have been complaining about networking in Panther? They should have opinions as to how well it's working in this latest release.
Samba should be working better at accessing SMB shares, but I have no knowledge. iDisk access was specified as a targeted improvement, wasn't it?
It would be nice to hear that this release gets us to where it should have been in November.
Are people having the most problems on laptop machines?

Or perhaps some people just don't have Panther yet. I'm using 10.2.8 right now, so it's not that I don't use OS X, it's just that I don't use Panther yet.

I really haven't noticed any change since the update. I read earlier that someone was complaining that their computers were disconnecting from the AirPort network after sleep. My PowerMac has been doing that. It's kind of annoying. Has anyone else had this problem?
