When streaming to my ATV, my MBP will goes to sleep causing the apple tv to stop playing!!

How can I stop this happening (other than changing it in System Prefs)?

Either sync, instead of stream, or you have to set your computer to not go to sleep in the energy saver preferences.

It is a bit daft. I usually start iphoto whenever I want to keep my computer awake.

I have no idea, it just does. At least it does on my G5 iMac and G4 powerbook. They both run Tiger and iLife 05.

use Energy Saver in system preferences.
you can set you screen to black out, and click the HD to be inactive when not being used, the intel processor powers down auto when there is not any demand, also graphics chips now are energy saving so leave the system on, is not big deal. That is what I do so my 3 ATV can get content. What apple needs is to create a Media Server/center, stand alone, so we don't need to use out itunes to do it. I can see this happen as people start adding more than one ATV. I see the ATV really taking off in the future. just seems like things are going that way as technology evolves.

There is a tiny app called Caffeine. It is Free ware. And the little coffee cup icon stays in Taskbar & you click on it & your Mac won't go to sleep or run it's screen saver until you click it again. I use it for rendering in iMovie or burning DVD's. But if I remember correctly, your Mac going to sleep should not stop your TV from streaming. I'll have to test it but I'm almost sure of this.

When my mbp goes to sleep the atv stops and displays 'There are no videos on you apple tv.'

it's really annoying!
