Does anyone else on here love that new product smell that Apple products have?? When I first got my MacBook I smelt it a lot.. It's so nice!! Same with my iPod.. The thing is, the iPhone didn't have that smell, which was disappointing.

Don't they arrest you and throw you in jail if you go to Wal-Mart to rip the packages open and start sniffing the product.

My 12" PowerBook kept it's smell for a good few years. The others, not really.
I don't go sniffing them on purpose though…I'd like to keep my brain cells intact. :)

I remember a few years ago a story on the news about the "new car smell" being all the glues and other chemicals in the car. The story reported how they were actually quite dangerous. Supposedly, the smells were lots of VOC's. It'd be interesting to see the raw results of the tests.

the smell is toxic.

i bought a new macbook pro 1.5 years ago and the smell was so strong it gave me headaches. I had to return it after a few days.

Wondering - does anyone know if there is a smell on the new MBPros that just came out? particularly the 15 inch?

I've never noticed a difference between Macs and other product smells...

But yes, I do love it. :D

I have a new 15 mbp and it hardly had the smell at all.

Is this part of Apple's marketing schemes to hook you in with this addictive new computer/product smell? Like nicotine, once you are hooked, you are in a long haul to keep buying new Apple products.:)

Aawww, sorry to hear this bad news...
Have you tried going to your mum's knicker draw and getting a hit off that?

New Car Smell. It's the chemicals in the seat foam, the carpet, the leather, the plastic.

Detergents, dyes, veneers, coatings, etc.

It's awful for you.

Love the new smell. I'm not even sure why, since it travelled to college, Spain and around the UK with me but my Powerbook retained the smell. Especially once the fans kicked in.

I miss that machine :o.

Apple has the fumes on the mac pro to make you forget that you payed enough money for your mac pro to buy a new car or maybe the best canon camera in the world.

So what? It smells great! What's a few brain cells? And it only last for a week or so, because my Mom smokes in the car. I LOVE THAT SMELL!

I don't recall my Mac having any smell out of the box.

I love new smells in general: cars, shoes, books, magazines, etc.

I loved the smell of my MacBook when it was new. It doesn't smell like that anymore. Once in a great while, I get a whiff of it's freshness tho. Mostly when the fans kick on in high gear.

A great place the smell seems to stay is the vent on the bottom by the hinge. *sniffffffff*

I loved the smell of my Mac when it was new! I also love the feeling of holding an unopened Apple product box, and then the excitement of opening it!

I kept all the packaging and the box for my Mac. Sometimes I go down to the basement where I store it and open it up just to smell that "new Mac" smell again.

...crazy... i know.
