Hello all, I am a new Mac User, I recently purchased a 12' PB. I used to have a lot of small programs in my PC to resize pictures and make very simple homepage. Is there programs for Mac that's free that can do the job. I really don't need programs like Photoshop etc to do that, just a small , free program will do for me. Is there any programs that "come" with the PB that will do that? Any recommendations is appreciated Thanks! :D

CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW TOY, I TOO HAVE THE 12" AND LOVE IT. I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY SPECIFI PROGRAMS, BUT AS SOMEONE WHO BUYS VERY LITTLE SOFTWARE, I KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO WANT TO FIND LITTLE PROGRAMS. FIRST OFF I WOULD SUGGEST SIMPLY CLICKING ON THE APPLE LOGO AT THE TOP LEFT CORNER AND SEARCH THE DOWNLOAD SITE FOR ANYTHING YOUR INTERESTED IN. I SURVIVED OFF THIS SITE SINCE OS X WAS RELEASED AND HAVE REALLY SEEN IT GROW. A LESS ELEGANT PLACE TO LOOK IS VERSIONTRACKER.COM NOW AS FOR RESIZING SIMPLE PHOTOS, APPLE INCLUDES THE GREATEST SHOEBOX THERE IS, IPHOTO. HERE YOU CAN STORE ALL YOUR PHOTOS FROM YOUR CAMERA, THE WEB, AND ANY OTHER PROJECT, IN ITS ORIGINAL FILETYPE. WHICH MEANS PHOTOSHOP FILES WILL KEEP ALL THEIR LAYERS INTACT AS YOU IMPORT AND EXPORT. AS FOR CREATING A HOMEPAGE, YOU CAN DO THIS IN MICROSOFT WORD VERY EASILY. JUST EXPORT ANY PHOTOS FROM IPHOTO USING THE "SAVE FOR WEB FEATURE" AND BUILD A COOL LOOKING PAGE IN WORD. APPLE MAKES IT AL PRETTY SIMPLE.

I think you can do it in iPhoto, look at the bottom left corner of the window when you double click on a picture, there should be a drop down menu that says constrain right under it and there are some options to rezise the image.

Hope it's what you're looking for.

Actually I was just playing with it, you have the choice to do a customized resize in the edit window, if you don't see it, click "customize" and add it to your toolbar. :)

you don't even have to use word to build a webpage. You can just use the export as web page feature of iPhoto

You can use GraphicConverter... it should have come preinstalled with your powerbook

AppleWorks also allows you to re-size images (I have done this before for a school assignment).

For website creation, just use Text-Edit to do your HTML code.

eg. <html>
<head>
<title>Basic HTML Site</title>
</head>
<body>
This is a basic HTML site. <br />
Hello World <!--Sorry I had to add it into the code-->
</body>
</html>

Image tags are <img src="imagelocation/image.jpg" />

If you want more help, do a Google search.

Please don't use Word to create a webpage. Yeah, you can do it...just don't. There are better options, including not having a webpage. Check versiontracker for something that will produce cleaner code (which is just about anything).
