New PB Ram questions

I just managed to get a NEW (never booted or box opened) Powerbook G4 17" 1.33GHz for £1600 GBP from PC world and it cooks. (30-40 percent faster than my e-mac 800 using x-bench1.1.3). however 512MB ram is not enough. what should I be looking to pay for 1GB of DDR333 in the uk. any sites with good ram prices?

Ooh congrats. Do you want to add another 512MB or a 1GB sodimm?

www.memoryx.com (http://www.memoryx.com) ships to Japan, so they probably ship to the UK if you have no luck finding anything local. Since it's about $120 in the States for 512MB, what's that in the UK, 70 Sterling or something?

Try http://www.crucial.com/uk/ and use the Memory Advisor.
An extra 512Mb is 75 pounds, 1Gb is 322 pounds both with free shipping, very fast. Coupon BBUSERGROUP could get you an extra 5% discount.
Unless you are planning to run a lot of apps simultaneously then an extra 512Mb will be all you need. I just put 512Mb in a new PB 12 inch and it made a BIG difference. Crucial memory is recognised as one of if not the best 3rd part memory suppliers.

i want the 1Gig chip cos as you can see i had 1gig in my emac and i want to upgrade. i had a nasty habbit of letting photoshop gobble up all of my ram. so a total of 1.5gig should help. for uk ram i checked www.cwonline.co.uk (a uk mac reseller) and can get 1 gig for £290 gbp.

I bought a single 1 gig pc2700 200pin ddr333 ram for $329 plus $42 for intl. shipping at www.memorysuppliers.com/ki1gbpc262001.html. I think this is the cheapest price for this ram.

I Just ordered a single `pc2700`sodimm (1GB) frow CW online. Its a Integral Ram chip with the same latency an a crucial chip. ill let you all know when it gets here. Todays task at work, add a foam insert into the targus laptop bag pcworld gave me with the powerbook to stop it flapping about inside it (I think it was designed to hold those PeeCe laptops with the 17"screen that way more than a couple of house bricks).
