Can you port a number with a different area code over in an apple store?

This is my first post. I would like to know if you can port a number with a different area code at a apple store. The apple store is in Cleveland, OH and their area code is 216. I live in Warren which has an 330 area code. I'm on tmobile right now and my contract ends on friday. I plan to go online and get pre-authorized and then go this weekend to pick one up.

When I bought my iPhone GS at an Apple store on release day, I ported a Verizon phone number in the 707 area code to AT&T. The store was located in Corte Madera, CA, area code 415. It took a while, but I think that had more to do with the heavy load than with the area code.
