iphone Mail (when sending) now shows "Server Error" and won't send

My wife's contacts disappeared from her iPhone. I discovered they were gone from the AddressBook on her MBP too. I restored them from a TM backup. Now they don't sync with MobileMe (although Calendars do). I can see her contacts in ym AddressBook (I'm subscribed). I've tried manually syncing, and even resetting contacts to MobleMe. Still no contacts in the cloud.

I was out getting a hair cut, and right before my eyes all my contacts disappeared from my iPhone. All that was left were my favorites, as numbers only. It was just like what happened to my wife's iPhone.

Then, just as mysteriously, my contacts reappeared about 10 secs. later. Then I changed a contact on my phone, including taking and adding a picture. I lost it. MobileMe pushed the original contact info back to my phone instead of syncing the update.

MobileMe push and sync is screwed up today. I'm turning it off.

MM on my iMac was very sluggish today, both logging in and logging out. Apple must be updating the servers with SL, maybe?

I just spent an hour on phone and chat with Apple about my disappearing contacts problem. They are escalating the issue.
