I felt encouraged by a combination of the Panther desktop and the Longhorn desktop to design something along the trend of "softcore blue."

A nifty little program called MenuMeters (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/17713) . You can display CPU, disk, memory, and network usage.

Edit: Blue&Whitman, you beat me to it.
