Yesterday, I took my iPhone out of my pocket to check my email, low and behold, the screen didn't turn on, or so at least I thought it didn't, upon further examination the screen did turn on, but there was no brightness to it.. The phone was completely functional, so I went into the settings and as soon as I adjusted the brightness slider, it immediately turned on.
I thought nothing of it, but it has done it now, 3 times since then..
Has anyone else experienced anything like this??
I'm guessing I'll have to wait for it to happen before I take it to the Apple store because it doesn't do it on a regular basis to where I can show the genius..

On my first iPhone 3GS, the backlight completely died on it after only a few hours of use. Nothing I did could bring it back. I had to return it.

I'm wondering if I have to wait for it to completey die out before I can get it exchanged or if the Apple Store will exchange it based on my word if I'm not able to prove it to them...

You should restore first. Even if it won't help, that's the first thing they'll ask about. If you can say "yes, I just did and it's still doing it" then that will help your case.
