well now at least this time trying to get it to restore i got it to verifying with apple.

ok now it looks like it is restoring again. and it seems to be going just fine.

i am still hesistant on trying purplera1n again.

did i do it right?

open itunes
open purple rain
run purple rain'

the end? lol

Had exactly the same problem, had to use this method, but it relies on you having speakers for your PC and hearing the USB connect and disconnect sounds :

Step 1. Connect iphone to USB then listen to the sound when it connect and disconnect.

Step 2. Hold the home and power buttons until hear the disconnect sound then release power button.

Step 3. Wait until you hear another sound then release home button.

Once you done all this, the iphone screen will be blank, but it is in DFU mode.

K.

Yeah that's right. Some people are having major problems with it not working correctly (including myself). Apparently some people have had luck with this method:

open purple rain
make it rain
*phone gets stuck in restore mode*..wait about 5 minutes
close purple rain *do not do anything with the phone*
open purple rain again
make it rain again

As I said, some people have had luck with the above method. Good luck if you try it again! I've given up myself 😛

I used this method with success (WINDOWS XP)
- plug in iphone
- open itunes
- open purple rain
- make sure itunes recognizes iphone
- make it rain
- see purple rain logo
- when itunes makes a prompt, press ok
- should reboot
- yay.

Happy to see that you got it working 😛, I gave up after restoring a few times, then getting restore errors. It was really frustrating, might try it again tomorrow or wait until an OSX version comes out..
