Sound Only From Left Speaker?

On my iPhone, I thought it was perfect. However, I notice that sound only comes from the left speaker. Is this how it's supposed to be?

I cover the left speaker with my thumb and notice a very audible difference. However, when I cover the right speaker with my thumb there is barely a difference.

Just not sure if this is normal, and it may be a stupid question but I'm not sure if the right side is something else or not. -_- ahah, should I set up an appointment with a Genius?

edit; also same problem with my dad, both white iPhone 3Gs 32GB
