I have a new eMac, and I'd like to keep it on all the time. Well, my parents have a problem with that. They say it takes up too much power. I don't want it to sleep while I download stuff, because the downloading stops. Does anyone know how much power (in watts, I guess) it uses while sleeping, then how much while the screen saver runs with minimum CPU usage?

And, to give me some more info to back myself up, how does it compare to other appliances (i.e. refrigerators, lights, and I don't know, be creative :) )

I found this...Not sure of the accuracy, but generally a computer uses a whole lot less than an appliance.

if you want to save on electricity turn off the display that way the CRT monitor won't be drawing power

Thanks, that is pretty interesting, and will probably help. Just out of curiosity, I wonder how much an iPod takes up?
