In the interest of fairness, I thought I would start a thread about an important issue to those on the right: stamping out she-males in the movies.

Parents Beware: 'Shrek 2' Features Transgenderism And Crossdressing Themes

Summary: The DreamWorks' animated film, "Shrek 2," is billed as harmless entertainment but contains subtle sexual messages.

Parents who are thinking about taking their children to see "Shrek 2," may wish to consider the following: The movie features a male-to-female transgender (in transition) as an evil bartender. The character has five o'clock shadow, wears a dress and has female breasts. It is clear that he is a she-male. His voice is that of talk show host Larry King.

During a dance scene at the end of the movie, this transgendered man expresses sexual desire for Prince Charming, jumps on him, and both tumble to the floor.

In another scene in the movie, Shrek and Donkey need to be rescued from a dungeon where they are chained against the wall. The rescue is conducted by Pinocchio who is asked to lie so his nose will grow long enough for one of the smaller cartoon characters to use it as a bridge to reach Shrek and Donkey. Donkey encourages him to lie about something and suggests he lie about wearing women's underwear. When he denies wearing women's underwear, his nose begins to grow.

An earlier scene in the movie features a wolf dressed in grandma's clothing and reading a book when Prince Charming encounters him. Later, one of the characters refers to the wolf's gender confusion.

TVC's report, "A Gender Identity Disorder Goes Mainstream," explains the transgender agenda and the effort to deconstruct the biological reality of male and female. DreamWorks is helping in this effort by promoting cross dressing and transgenderism in this animated film.

I wonder where Steve Jobs and Pixar stand on the issue of transgenders in the cinema? I never saw Finding Nemo, were there any transgender fish in the film?

Give me a break already...sheesh...I suppose talking donkeys and the multi-ethnicity of any ogre-humans should be called into question too...we wouldn't want to confuse the kiddies, now would we?

That is a creative interpretation of it. If you haven't seen the movie, the "transgendered" bartender was supposed to be one of the ugly stepsisters (i.e. from "Cinderella"). As in the first movie, "Shrek 2" includes a lot of gags that poke fun at traditional fairytales, classic Disney movies, etc.

Not a real lesbian fish, of course, but an animated lesbian fish. ;)

Now, don't forget the original sinners, Bert and Ernie! Puppet love that dares not speak its name!

We have got to get the Rev. Jerry Falwell on this immediately! I think those Hollywood types are trying to recruit our children into the homosexual lifestyle. :( (had to use that smilie because it reminds me of Tinkie Winkie.) Ooooh the shame of it all!

Larry King is a shemale? Who would have guessed? I thought he was just a jerk.

Hmm, losing respect for Shrek for its unsophisticated low-hanging-fruit pop-culture references is one thing, but going after it for cross-dressing?!?!

Methinks some people are too fired up for their own good.

who cares?
this is America we are talking about.....
Land of the nudie bar
LA - Porn capital of the World
The Miss Universe Pageant
Hugh Hefner and Larry Flint et al.......

not to mention unmitigated wowserism in the form of the brouhaha over Janet Jacksons nipple and millions of your tax $$$ going to Abstinence programs.

USA - a land of contradictions.......

why get all hot and bothered about a green, animated, ficticious, animated, imaginary, animated ogre and sidekicks.

actually, i rekon the original Shrek is the greatest american contribution to world culture, ever.

sheesh. :D  :) :o

Whether book or movie, I've never understood the penchant of some of the hard-core fundamentalist crowd to jump to confusions. They can find "messages" that totally escape me, even when I re-read or "re-see" in an effort to discover them.

Sure, there are some movies which the little folks can't handle, emotionally; probably some whose "message" truly isn't suitable. However, the hard-core crowd has a poor batting average in their predictions, IMO.

Sometimes the producers mess up. My mother told me that she and many others were startled by how many of us wee tots began crying in fear at some of the scenes in "Fantasia". Adults and teenies were thoroughly entertained throughout the movie...

Damfino. Guess I'll just keep on bein' somewhere near bein' a right-wing Hippie. "...ain't tryin' to change nobody, just tryin' real hard to adjust."--Bellamy Brothers.
