I'm getting my iPhone 3GS in a few days and have been reading up on jailbreaking it. I would like to know what Cydia is, what Icy is, and what the SpringBoard or WinterBoard or SummerBoard is. Also, are either of the current jailbreaks available untethered? Like I said, I've this is all brand new to me so any help would be appreciated.

Cydia - sort of like an appstore for jailbreak apps

Icy - a wannabe replacement to Cydia. It usually screws everything up.

SpringBoard - This is what Apple calls the phone's "desktop" where all your icons are

WinterBoard - an app that applies themes to springboard

SummerBoard - old version of winterboard
