I am trying to alter the BeeJive icon on my 3GS. When I created the document in Photoshop it looks the way I want it. When I SSH it into my phone it comes out looking similar but has rounded edges and isn't the exact look that I created in adobe. Any idea?

This is what I made to match my theme:

This matches this theme:

Every time I try and upload the new icon it keeps the shape of the stock icon, and just has the little icon I created on the top of it. Any ideas?

You need to edit Beejive's Info.plist.
If there is a key called UIPrerenderedIcon, then flip it -- if it's true, set it to false, or viceversa.
If there is no UIPrerenderedIcon key, add it, and try true and false until you get the effect you want.

That works a little, it still has rounded edges and the part that is supposed to be transparent is translucent. Any other ideas?

Hmmmm. Those effects are controlled by mask, overlay and shadow. I was fooling around with them the other day, but never quite figured them out completely. Perhaps you could search around? Try the theme modding forums, maybe?

I was designing my own icon for Beejive tonight too, and found that at first I saved it for web as a .png 8 and it looked crappy with white outlines showing up, so I saved it as .png 24 and it looks fine now. Maybe that could be whats screwing yours up?
