I just got a new iBook G4 a few weeks ago, and I didn't get around to transferring my files from my old iBook until just now. So now I would like to import my OS 9 Netscape bookmarks from my old computer into Safari. So, I've got this bookmarks.html file hanging around, but I don't know what to do with it. I looked thru Apple's support page and found this
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107636
But this won't work b/c I don't actually have Netscape installed on my new computer. Any suggestions?
Also, I have a few bookmarks in Safari already. Will they be overwritten?
and one more Safari question, if I may...If tabs are not enabled, clicking on a link with Apple key opens the link in a new window. If tabs are enabled, doing the same thing opens the link in a new tab...Is there a way one can have the benefit of tabs and the ability to open a link in a new window?
Thank you! :)

Thank you! :)Mozilla and Netscape use the same bookmarks file. You may use Safari Enhancer to import Mozilla bookmarks into Safari. You may find it here (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/17776).

Thanks for the link! :) Will this work with 10.3.4? Is this a haxie? [I was just reading on another thread that haxies can compromise the stability of one's system.]

[I was just reading on another thread that haxies can compromise the stability of one's system.]No, importing bookmarks is not a hack, certainly not a dangerous one. Just about all versions of Netscape and Mozilla use the same bookmark file. It is an .html file named bookmarks.html. Safari's bookmarks are stored in a .xml file named bookmarks.xml. Both files are text files. You can manually edit the bookmarks in any browser at any time. Safari Enhancer merely automates the process. To the best of my knowledge, never in the history of computing has editing a bookmarks file ever adversely effected system stability on any platform. It is true that Safari Enhancer has functionality that could be characterized as hacking. We are not talking about those.

Thank you for your patience with all my stupid questions!
I couldn't find a file called bookmarks.xml. All I found was bookmarks.plist. I opened it up in emacs, and it didn't look like html, so I didn't want to try to manually edit it. If I use Safari Enhancer to automate the bookmarks import process, can I then "turn it off" so it does not interfere with Safari?

It's Camino's bookmarks file that is XML. Safari Enhancer doesn't "interfere" with Safari or anything else. You have to launch it and enter an administrative password for it do anything. It does only what you want when you want it.
