Hi,

I was wondering if anybody has ever installed a bootleg version of Windows XP on a Mac using BootCamp? I just recently purchased a new MacBook Pro and don't want to F anything up but thought it might be worth a try. Any help is great. Thanks again.

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody could share any experience they've had when installing a bootleg version of Windows XP on a Mac using BootCamp? I just recently purchased a new MacBook Pro and don't want to F anything up, so am wondering if the only way is to fork out more money for another copy of XP. I know it said authenticated version only in the instructions but I thought there may be a way around it. Any help is great. Thanks again.

Well, what you are doing is just like installing it on any other computer. So if it isn't legit, it won't be legit on the mac either.

I thought there might be a way around it though or something. I know there is a small tool you can get for Windows that will make the warnings and what not disappear after installing an unauthenticated version, but it will prevent you from updating to newer versions of XP as well. I wouldn't mind that though if there was something like that for using an unauthenticated one on a Mac after installing it with BootCamp. I was mostly interested if anybody has ever tried it before and what happened during installation...
