According to Directv's website and it states "Now you can enjoy every NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ game, every Sunday, live on your iPhone or iPod touch. The new SUPERCAST Mobile app — available FREE to all SuperFan customers — includes all the great features of the SUPERCAST computer application. So you can now enjoy live streaming video, highlights, scores and stats wherever you happen to be." App is coming soon to app store! Just another reason why the iphone is the best.
Personally I will watch games on the big screen BUT if I need to run to the store or if I am out I will just tune right in on my iphone.

Wow. I'm a ST Superfan sub and would LOVE to use this.
But I'll betcha it'll get neutered by AT&T and be wifi-only.

I know this says Free to SuperFan customers, but will it also be available to purchase as a standalone app to non SuperFan customers?

I highly doubt it. They charge $300 for a full season pass normally.

This sounds so awesome, i just wish that Direct TV did not have a monopoly on showing NFL games so all fans could enjoy this app.

Superfan also gives you the redzone channel and the 8 games at once channel. And now, the ability to stream to the iPhone.

While this would be incredibly cool, since I am only home every other Sunday, it's not $380 per year cool.

Since it specifically says Superfan, multiple times, I'm going to guess you need Superfan and Sunday Ticket alone will not suffice.

I'd pay for an iPhone-specific plan.
How much you figure, based on the price for a full signal, to be able to watch NFL games in 320 x 480?
Hundred bucks?
Hundred fifty?
I'd pay that.

Woooooooooooooo **sarcasm**
MLB provides audio for a bazillion games for $10 for ANYBODY. They add video for a few, although the quality isn't that great.
Meanwhile, the NFL apparently thinks its little subset of Sunday Ticket subscribers who are whatever this SuperFan thing is ... OK, so about 15 people are going to be eligible for this. Why must the NFL be this stupid? The blackout rules are already dumb enough, but to limit your mobile access so much is another punch in the pills. There's NO GOOD REASON the NFL can't offer a clone of the MLB app with audio for $10-15. Why it's even going to be attached to Sunday Ticket is beyond me. If you were at home using Sunday Ticket to watch a game, is there any need for the video on an iPhone?

Also this is horrible news for Sprint since they are the official telecommunications partner of the NFL. Most of their phones have the NFL Mobile Live app and you see all the commercials pushing it. Sprint is probably pissed off.

In case many of you didnt realize there were plenty of us that subscribed to the NFL ticket before they invented the iPhone. This is meant as a bonus to subscribers not a ploy to get iPhone owners to buy so get a clue.
However being a NFL ticket subscriber for 6 years now I do everything I can to be in front of my tv on Sunday so that I can always watch the games. If by some odd chance I wont be able to be there in front of the TV Im happy that I can watch on my iPhone now, it might actually encourage me to get out on Sundays with the iPhone and watch from a park or beach or lake or something.

So you need to be a Sunday Ticket subscriber to get this? If so, big fail. If I paid what it costs for Sunday Ticket, my ass is at home in my chair watching the games every Sunday. Why would I need this for my tiny iPhone? NFL should do what the MLB is doing right now with At-Bat. This offering is a joke.

This is awesome! Great way to get around that contract with Sprint. I'm psyched! Now I don't have to miss anything if I have to run out for lunch or to the store real quick or if for some reason, I have to be away from the house on Sundays.
*Psyched*
Those of you that are bitching, this is a DirecTV app, not an AT&T app and not an NFL app. The NFL has an exclusive contract with Sprint and cannot supply content to AT&T or any other cellular provider. Pony up for DirecTV or miss out. It's as simple as that.

Don't forget fella's. You can get the SlingPlayer app and stream games over wifi that way, too.
While it still has its compromises, don't get too worked up over the thought of having to switch to DirecTV, order the Sunday Ticket package, and order the Super Fan package.
For a fraction of the cost you can stream your games from free broadcast TV.

You must be in a bad signal area or something, because I get GREAT video quality on At Bat, even over 3G.
These are screen-caps I took tonight while watching over 3G.

http://i26.tinypic.com/k3ork7.jpg
Like I said, these are both while I was watching in a moving car, over 3G, during live action, so any of the slight blurring visible is from the action during my screen-cap rather than poor stream quality.
On Wi-Fi, it almost looks like I'm watching the games in HD.

As it's already been stated I'm sure, I'm not at DirecTV subscriber but if I'm shelling out this $$$ to be an NFL Sunday Ticket subscriber, my arse would be planted directly in front of the 52" and watching the HD feed on Sundays.
I wouldn't be anywhere else on Sunday so viewing on my iPhone would be pointless. The NFL should adopt something similar to the MLB app...that I would pay for in a second.

It is on the internet in such places like www.Satelliteguy.us and my local fair in Alameda is doing this promotion as well. PM if you are interested and get the extra $100 off for a referral.
Again like previous post, this is a bonus getting it over the iphone and not something that is going to get new subscribers. Also, just imagine what doors this can open for all sports in the near future. And maybe if you don't have Directv you could be nice to a neighbor and pitch in a few bucks and maybe they will let you uses your iphone to watch games.

There is a 'GOOD REASON'. DTV paid a 'bazillion' dollars to the NFL for the rights to get the Sunday Ticket exclusively. I'm a DTV subscriber and complain all the time about paying an extra $100 just to get the HD feed via Super Fan (on top of the $280 ST). That's a redundant HD upcharge for HD service that I'm already paying for. I don't care about all the other features of SuperFan....just want HD. But that's a whole 'nother post!
So basically, DTV can dictate who or what gets any sniffs of the Sunday Ticket. It's their feed...so they get to charge who and how you get it.
As for me, I'm going to bend over and pay the $380 to watch the Chargers in HD every Sunday. You better believe I will make every effort to watch it on my 50" plasma in HD glory....but on those days where the wife wants to go to brunch on Sunday, you gotta like having the game available on the iPhone for 'free'. :D

Hi guys. New user but looong time lurker. This forum has been a great resource to me for years but I never really had anything to contribute...Until now.
If anyone here will be switiching to DirecTV this fall to get the NFL Sunday ticket (and on their iPhone) please contact me and I can give you a referral for a $100 discount (spread out over 10 months.)
I can't believe how excited I am for this season (and I'm a Lion's fan.)
Thanks guys!

I agree this is spam BUT it has EVERYTHING to do with the iPhone because DTV is offering something so you can watch all (I believe) NFL games on the iPhone. So technically, it's very much related.
I wanted DTV but I cannot get a signal. I thought SAT meant I didn't need a horizontal path but apparently the very well trained () DTV installer says otherwise.

Since we allow people to share referrals for other things (like the $25 referral savings on switching to AT&T), this is permissible. Of course, (A) A2-Mac-Guy, you are expected to just limit yourself to this one post on this topic, and (B) the rest of you should use common sense in providing personal information to strangers on the internet. :)

Yeah it is to watch on the iPhone and frankly, after having MLB At Bat 2009, I would want something like this. HOWEVER, I am annoyed that I cannot get all of the MLB games on my phone (I really want to be able to watch every Cubs game) even at a price. Therefore, I am weighing the cost of MLB Extra Innings via cable or MLB.tv via computer since my media center is a mac mini.

As for the Lions, their gorgeous field is one of the few good things going for downtown Detroit. I really do ultimately hope that the development near Ford Field and the Tiger's stadium can create a new nucleus of urban living in Detroit....

Whoa!! Slow down now. Let's not get crazy! ;)
How about hoping the team can win some games first!
Seriously, though, I've spent decades in that city and I am never surprised at how quickly a good thing can go bad there. But it's never the people, it's the politics of that town. Here's to hoping that city hall has finally been cleaned up. Great article on freep.com yesterday about shrinking the city down. That's a solid plan that's 20-30 years past due.
Anyway, I for one can't wait to watch the games on my iPhone. Being able to tune in on the go will help justify the cost of the ticket.
