Just downloaded it and it look OK. It's a good start but it needs a little work.

1) When I first launched it, it crashed before getting to the first screen. After a relaunch it worked fine.

2) The first thing I did was to add a meeting notice. I couldn't add more then one contact. Also there is no "save" button on this screen, it seems you just select your contact and then back out . . . but the other screens have save buttons.

3) When creating a new task, I was initially confused that the save button wasn't enabled until I realized I needed to add a task name. How about indicators to tell what fields are required.

4) All the screenshots on the AppStore are in French (?). I would think that on the US store you'd want English images because I was worried the app would only be in French.

So far, it looks good and useful, but not quite prefect. I'll keep playing with it and give you more feedback as I find things.

Thank you for the feedbacks.

1) Very strange, it has never happened on my device and didn't have this information given before. I'll check out the crash log if i have it.

2) I would probably have to remove all save button or add only the one missing in order to not confuse users. Point taken.

3) Actually the only required field is the Task Label. You are correct I should mention it.

4) Point also taken. Even if the appstore tells the available language, I should provide the english description as well as the english screenshot. I'll have to switch my development device to english language.

Thanks again helping me to try to reach perfection ;)

This is not really in relation to your app, but does apple not allow you to submit different description/images for different languages? If not, thats a major oversight by apple

Apple does allow and even encourage developper to include localizable description as well as localizable screenshot on appstore. I guess i should have prepared the english description text and screenshot before posting the app. Maybe because the appstore mention that the app provide both French and English language.

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but honestly trying to help you improve the application. Overall the application seems solid, I haven't had any problems with it crashing or doing anything funky. I think the baseline is good; just a few things could be improved. And remember, these are only my opinions / feelings, others could be completely different.

Can I have a meeting with more then one person? I can't seem to add more then one. If I select another contact it just change out the one that I already had in there.

Once I have a meeting scheduled, it looks OK, but the "contact" icon next to the title of the meeting on the details panel -- doesn't seem to do anything. I kept trying to press it to pull up a list of contacts who are supposed to be at the meeting (which, right now is one).

On the details page, at the bottom you have two buttons, Details and Description. I can tell that the details button is darker, but the reality is that it is unnecessary because you're already on the page. Either hide it, or remove it when not on the page. Otherwise seems a little confusing.

I scheduled a lunch meeting, from 11:30am to 1:30pm, today. So far so good. But when I leave the app, it already has a (1) attached to the app because there is one thing to be done today. I was expecting this to show up around 11:30, or maybe having a way to schedule when it is to show up (like notify an hour before). I would think that having several things scheduled during the day would get a little confusing with it showing "X" items all day long when in the morning you don't care about the things in the afternoon yet. -- just my thought.

When creating a new task, there is a lot of navigation forward and back; thus requiring quite a few taps. Tap category, tap which category. Tap back, tap type, tap task type, tap existing contact, tap contact, tap (task type -- back), tap task (back), tap cancel (back) DOH!!! I kept hitting the cancel button because I hit back too many times. When creating a new task, maybe streamline the process to get the information in faster.

On the main screens you have the two buttons at the bottom, "In Progress" and "Completed". The Completed button has a count of the number of tasks completed, but the "In Progress" doesn't have a count of the number of tasks that need to be done. It feels inconsistent.

No worries. I really appreciate you taking the time to test my app and provide me with feedback. It is always good to have either good or bad reports. It shows some interrest in my work. That's what matter.

No so far you can't assign more than one contact to a task that is typed with meeting. I should have called this "Rendez-vous". But you got a fairly point. I will keep this remark in my the improvment list.

Once I have a meeting scheduled, it looks OK, but the "contact" icon next to the title of the meeting on the details panel -- doesn't seem to do anything. I kept trying to press it to pull up a list of contacts who are supposed to be at the meeting (which, right now is one).

Yes, the the meeting type doesn't provide any thing else that being shown as a meeting task. I first focus on the phone call, email and sms type to interact with other iphone applications, but i have few idea to improve the others. But to be honest, it will not be included before the version 1.3.

On the details page, at the bottom you have two buttons, Details and Description. I can tell that the details button is darker, but the reality is that it is unnecessary because you're already on the page. Either hide it, or remove it when not on the page. Otherwise seems a little confusing.

I'll try to figure out an other way to provide access to in detail navigation.

Yep that may be confusing a little for this version at least. My plan is to provide push message to alert or remind users for the coming tasks. So the badge number is just to keep track of the overall task number. The reminder will come along with the version 1.2

When creating a new task, there is a lot of navigation forward and back; thus requiring quite a few taps. Tap category, tap which category. Tap back, tap type, tap task type, tap existing contact, tap contact, tap (task type -- back), tap task (back), tap cancel (back) DOH!!! Fair point. Told like this sounds annoying ;) I'll try to rework the task creation process

On the main screens you have the two buttons at the bottom, "In Progress" and "Completed". The Completed button has a count of the number of tasks completed, but the "In Progress" doesn't have a count of the number of tasks that need to be done. It feels inconsistent.

Yes i also found that this needed improvment, and i simply removed this. In the version 1.2, which is under developement, the completed tasks will be access from the category list wich will provide a "Completed" row such as the "Inbox" row. Regarding the number of in progress task, it is shown with a red badge number on the today's tasks list.

Thanks.

Unfortunatly with the release 1.1 it is not possible. But release 1.2 is on its way and just crossed the Qualification testing phase and is planned to be reviewed by Apple late July. This release will include the repeatable capabilities.

I downloaded this afternoon and haven't had much time to use it. I am looking for a task app and I am eager to try out a free one. ;) One thing I did want to mention is that I saw this in the app store a few days ago. From your app badge and name, I thought it was more a shopping list app and didn't give it a second glance because I was looking for todo/task apps. It wasn't until I saw your post thing morning that I made the connection of the name to what I had seen in the app store.

Hello ChiliBlue,

Thanks for sharing this. I'm trying to figure out a new icon for this todo/task management application to avoid any confusion for the purpose of this app. But for the time being i try to concentrate on improving the application. A new icon will for sure show up.

Thanks. Giving it a try. Some ideas

There is no point listing the icon and category name.
Also, if there is no due date, you should filter that out.

CURRENT
-------------------
Grocery
-------------------
[icon] grocery
Water
* No due date
-------------------
[icon] grocery
Milk
* No due date
-------------------

SUGGESTED (filters out if no due date, don't have to repeat category while in category)
-------------------
[icon] Grocery
-------------------
Water
-------------------
Milk
-------------------

Also if I am in Grocery, the bottom has

[In progress] [Completed (0)]

If I hit "completed (0)" then I can't go back to the previous category list, so the bottom should be:

[To Do] [In progress] [Done]

This is under rework. It will be part of a new release of the application. But unfortunatly it will not be part of the next one, probably the after.

Also if I am in Grocery, the bottom has

[In progress] [Completed (0)]

If I hit "completed (0)" then I can't go back to the previous category list, so the bottom should be:

[To Do] [In progress] [Done]

The version 1.2 has been modified to remove the [In progress] [Completed (0)] from the views. The completed tasks are now only accessible from the Categories view in a dedicated Category named "Completed".

Thank you for your feedbacks

Do you have them in English? That would be very helpful.

Hi,

So far i haven't translated the help pages in english, but it is in my task list ;) I must admit there is not a lot of english speakers so far using the app so i kept my free time to enhance the application.

Nevertheless if you need specific topics to be translated in english that could be a good start doing so and who knows maybe one day the help pages on the website will all get translated.

Let me know on which question/reply from the faq pages you need translations and i'll try to do it as far as i can.

Cheers

To be honest, I would like them all.
I wanted to read about how to use the app and its potential.
It looks really nice at first glance and I might get rid of a couple of other apps if this one works out. But rather than take a lot of time to play around with the app, I would rather read the notes to find out what I can do with it.

Sorry, I know translating all that is a bore but it would help.

thanks for the English translation on the blog.

However, what I would really like translated is the FAQ or the Overview section. Those, to me, are the crucial ones because they involve instructions on how to use the program.
I must say, without those pages translated, it is of much less use that it ought to be.

I am holding off on my review until I can assess the full functionality and that is on hold until there are English directions.
Thanks

ps: I see most of your users are in France (which is quite understandable). If you want to really make your app successful, making it more English-friendly will help. I'm sure your tired of having to translate but it is a commercial necessity :)

I understand your point. That the user are mostly based in France is also due to the fact that the application got reviewed by a Mac magazine only available in French speakers countries in Europe.

As a matter of fact, Canadian App Store shows the French description of the application. I couldn't figure out why it is so, since not all Canadian are from Quebec state where the French language is spoken. But the application is all translated in English.

But i do understand your point and will do my best to translate the Features and FAQ pages as quick as possible.

Cheers.

P.-S. : Commercial is where something (services or goods) are on sale. Right ? ;)

Technically that is correct. I meant 'commercial' in the broader sense in that iTunes is a commercial marketplace.

I do really appreciate your making this app free and I like what I see at first glance.
As I said earlier, I will get further into it when I can read the instructions in English.
And, as a Canadian, I do apologize for not being fluent in French. I could read the instructions in French but it would be time consuming.

Finally the Features page on http://en.dontforgetthelist.com is now in English. So all english speakers will be able to have an overview of what does provide the application.

Next step is to translate the FAQ pages.

Also, be aware that a new version (1.3) is now available on the App Store. But, the day apple validated the App we realize a bug has not been eliminated during the testing phase. This is not a blocking issue but can be annoying.

If you have already upgrade to this version, you can find a workaround here : http://en.dontforgetthelist.com/index.php?post/2009/09/02/%5BBug%5D-Version-1.3

The fix has been posted for Apple Review and should be available on App Store within 10 days. Sorry for the incovenience

Just started using it.
A killer for me is that there is no badge on the app icon so I have no idea how many things I have to do without opening the app.

Secondly, when I do open the app, it opens to 'today' which has nothing in it (almost all my to do's are not scheduled but outstanding) and I have to go to categories to see what there is.

Between these two issues, it is not nearly as useful as it looked at first glance.

DiGk: if you could add a badge and allow (?in settings) for the opening page to be 'categories' that would help a lot

The application badge shows the number of task due 'today'. And of course, as you mention, to be in the today's list the task have at least to have a due date defined.

Secondly, when I do open the app, it opens to 'today' which has nothing in it (almost all my to do's are not scheduled but outstanding) and I have to go to categories to see what there is.

For most people using a GTD like application, what does matter is to have at first glance the number of action to be done for the day. That's why the Today list is shown by default.

DiGk: if you could add a badge and allow (?in settings) for the opening page to be 'categories' that would help a lot

I'll keep in mind to include those into the next release.

A setting parameter to define which panel is default one if users want to bypass the actual parameter and the application badge to show the today task or the overall task.

May I make a couple of suggestions:
...setting the badge to only items due today means, presumably, that the badge is re-set daily. So even if the items are not completed the badge goes to empty?
...i tried to go back to my entries and set the for today so that the badge would appear but there is no way I can see to enter a date due when one hasn't be set to begin with. If a priority changes or you want to change a due date there should be a way to do that

Regarding the badge the mechanisme is as followed :

- Count the number of task on the today list. This today list show all the task due on the current day and also all overdued task.

- If you set a task for tomorrow and you have already 2 tasks due on today. Today the basge will show 2 tasks and tomorrow the badge will be updated to 3 taking into account that the task due on tomorrow is now due on today. This is done through the push mechanisme.

To modify the due date or the task properties.

- go to the task detail panel by touching a task from either the Today list, tomorrow list or Category list (after you choose the category)
- touch the top right button called "Edit"
- touch the row named "Due date" to access the due date panel
- swith the due date switcher to 1
- select your due date
- touch the save button

Same for all the other task properties

Check the following address and have a look to the video to see how to modify the task type. Same apply for the other properties.

+ Enhancement : add donate zone in the user setting

+ Bug fix : Tomorrow badge count at start up
