If someone gave me a code for version 1 of their app, and now the app was updated to version 2, will the version 1 code still work?

The code says it is for a specific version and is only good for 4 weeks. Why not just try to redeem it and see what happens? Pretty sure you'd need a new code though.

kk so its invalid now? the code is for a giveaway, but no one claimed it from me.
