I just installed boot camp with xp sp3. I can't find my WD Mybook on windows (its formatted as mac ofc) I was wondering if from a mac I could format a partion to NTFS. It wont let me do it on disk utility, anyone got any ideas?

OSX cannot write to NTFS partitions, it can only read from them.

If you want to format the drive as NTFS you will need to do it in Windows.

Yes, Disk Utility will allow you to format as NTFS from the drop down menu

NTFS-3G (http://www.ntfs-3g.org/) will allow OS X to read/write to NTFS (Windows) and it is free

MacDrive (http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/) will allow Windows to read/write HFS+ (Mac OS X), but it is not free

Didn't realise that NTFS-3G allowed formatting a drive as NTFS
