My friend gave me his powerbook to upgrade for him and because it was having a problem with the keyboard. Occasinally when using it, it started typing symbols and other gibberish instead of the correct letters or numbers. Made laptop pointless. So he gave it to me and I updated to leopard and the os is working fine, but occasianlly it still is giving me that typing problem. Does anyone have a solution on how to fix this.

It could be that the Option Key gets stuck from time to time. When you get the weird behavior you could check if the Option Key is down by using the Keyboard Viewer or you could push the Option Key a couple of times to see if the behavior changes.

Either clean the keyboard or get a new one...

soapy water and dry for at least one full day...
