Okay, I've tried everything I can to fix my dock, but can't figure it out. The problem is that there are 3 firefox spots in my dock, one of which is the actual one, the other two simply say the app name when moused over, but are blank spaces. Whenever I try to remove them from my dock, the dock "hides" then they re-appear once again.. the problem is rather annoying and frustrating, so I'd really appreciate any help.

I don't have that.. :S

The closest thing to it is this: com.apple.dockfixup.plist

which contains this:

1. CandyBar have option Restore Original - try it
2. attach file YourName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist

tried it, and ok

file://TerrySullivan/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dockfixup.plist

and its not really a dock issue moreso than an application removal issue

not com.apple.dockfixup.plist

you must have com.apple.dock.plist
file://TerrySullivan/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist

if you haven't it's mean that you have dock crash, and system have try to fix it
do you have 10.6 system?

do you single user on you comp?

try to create another user. log in, and take file://NEW USER/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist

and copy to your own account

I just somehow managed to figure it out, by messing around and restoring some of the components in the Dock file found in CoreServices.

Thanks for the help anyways!

here is standard com.apple.dock for snow Leopard

1. download it, rename from com.apple.dock.txt to com.apple.dock.plist
2. copy it to //TerrySullivan/Library/Preferences/
3. run Disk Utility and start Repair Permission
4. reboot

after this, you must have standard Dock... good luck!

A few problems there...

a) What if the original poster's name isn't Terry Sullivan?
b) What if the original poster's name isn't Marina Kropotova? Only a user with short name "marinakropotova" could use the file you posted.
c) Terry Sullivan's home folder is probably located at /Users/terrysullivan rather than /TerrySullivan.

There is no need to do any of these things. Simply delete the file, and Mac OS X will create a new one in its place.
