Advice for Mac Pro 1st Gen 2006 graphics card?

I currently have the ati 1900xt 512mb which works well, but is it going to be fully compatible with snow leopard? What are my other options? I'm not a freak about top performance but I want a good card. I do use video editing on the Pro.

I wanted to look into the nvidia 8800 model for my mac, but where do I find it? It's gone on the apple website. What other good options are out there?

Forget the 8800 GT. Get a 4870.

Are you sure the HD 4870/4890 will work in an old Mac Pro?

Yes, I verified with Mike at http://xlr8yourmac.com that the 4870s will run fine in a MacPro1,1.

Just to clarify, and maybe this has been discussed to death elsewhere, but the only downside to the Netkas injector is that it doesn't display the grey apple screen at the beginning loading screen.

Since I won't be booting into Windows, this shouldn't be a problem for me, right?
