Im thinking of buying an iPhone 3G from Spain as they are cheaper, but is it possible to unlock it for use on T-Mobile UK, using any of the 3.0 unlocks available ?? ie. Ultrasnow etc

Thanks

I think the Spanish iPhone network is either Vodadone of Movistar...

Just use redsn0w or Pwnage Tool to jailbreak the device, and then unlock it with ultrasn0w.:)

Ok thanks guys. If i cant get the offical unlock i will use the jailbreak. I just wanted to 100% confirm that the ultrasnow unlock will work, and it doesnt make a difference that its from spain.

Interesting, I have some friends in Spain, can I just get them to buy me one and ship it to the UK and it will work with my Vodafone SIM?

Cheers,

Greg

I haven't ever heard or seen any official unlocked iphones here...

Who from?

yes, redsn0w works fine on Movistar iPhones.. I've unlocked quite a few using this method and they work fine with 3G coverage...

I'm not sure how much you would save by buying one in Spain but bear in mind that if you have to use your warranty you would have to take it back to Spain (having restored it, of course, to remove evidence of jailbreaking and unlocking).

To be honest im not getting it, my freind is, and he got my other freind one for £200, and it works fine. So its a pretty big saving. Im not to worried about the warrenty..

How can he get it for that cheap??? I live in Barcelona and you can only buy an iPhone with Movistar, signing a 2 year contract or an 18 month contract. If you want to buy an unlocked iPhone, you would probably have to pay over 500 euros.

I have no clue how your friend got it for 200 pounds. Something doesn't add up...

They don't have a prepaid for iphone plan here in Spain....

If he can get it for so cheap, would you mind PM'ing me or posting how he got it? I would love to get the 3Gs. I'm going to get it, but it's currently sold out everywhere in Barcelona. Once they get some stock, I'm going to get it. If I can get it for 200 pounds without a contract, even better!! Somehow I highly doubt it's possible, though. I've never heard of anything like that.
