iPod touch Push Notifications and Battery Life

Does leaving notifications On all the time have a significant impact on battery life? I been noticing a decrease in battery like when browsing on Wi-Fi and using Beejive IM.
 
I haven't noticed a decrease in battery life on my phone since 3.0, but it should be noted that I was using push with my exchange account prior to this.
