Rolling Stone Magazine is celebrating the 50-year anniversary of what they consider the birth of Rock & Roll (Elvis Presley at the Sun Studio in 1954) with special issues, one with the cover story Fifty Moments That Changed the History of Rock & Roll (http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story?id=6085455). The editors said they focused on universal moments "that changed the way all of us listen to music and see the world".

One of their 50 picks is the iPod, which they rightly describe as of 2003 as a "cultural phenomenon".

James Brown at the Apollo in 1962
Dylan Goes Electric in 1965
The Doors at the Whisky in 1966
Making Sgt. Pepper in 1967
