According to crash-x's twitter, VoIPOver3G was submitted to BigBoss' repo about ten minutes ago! The paid version '3G Unrestrictor' (iPhone-formatted info page (http://bit.ly/EI8A2)) should be on Cydia Store soon, as well. I'll update this thread as soon as they're available!

edit: It's out!! For 3G Unrestrictor, click here (cydia://package/com.crashx.unrestrictor3g) on your iDevice to open Cydia to the product page. There are a number of reports that it will not install properly the first time, but after a re-spring (or two) it will work. There also seems to be a problem with tricking App Store/iTunes, but other apps are working fine.

edit2: The aforementioned App Store/iTunes bug has already been fixed! Version 1.0.1 is available though Cydia now; after installing, things are working perfectly. :)

Agreed. Skype over 3G was great, but being able to install apps larger than 10MB will be AWESOME. Not to mention HQ YouTube ... I'll buy this the second it hits the store! :)

He says it's ready to go in the Cydia Store (here's a direct link you can mail to yourself, which will take you directly there as soon as it's released: cydia://package/com.crashx.unrestrictor3g) and BigBoss will be adding it to the repo tomorrow! I'll update this thread as soon as they're out. Also, the price of 3G Unrestrictor will be $2. :)

Actually, VoIPOver3G will continue to be free. And, just like before, it will not work with the stock apps (App Store, YouTube, etc) and will require plist editing and SSH to modify which apps are 'tricked' ... No change, exactly like it has always worked, and still free.

He's also introducing a new app with an front-end GUI and the ability to trick the stock apps as well, and THAT will cost $2. What's wrong with that?

Resources cost money. I do hate to part with it. But, without these devs where would we be? you and I would be like the thousands of others, bitching for a JB/Unlock break. But not able to do anything about it.

Okay, so if you did a full days work, would you expect to be paid? Thought so, Dont know about you but when I work for others benefit, I expect to be paid, if I developed an Application for others benefit, I also would expect to be paid, what's wrong with that?

And good news! Apparently the new version of MobileSubstrate is done and is available in .deb form; saurik just hasn't added it to Cydia yet. So, it should be soon! Once MS is updated, it should be less than 24 hours before we see VoIPOver3G and 3G Unrestrictor! :D

Thanks for the heads up! Just upgraded here, too - Cydia wouldn't load properly afterward (network errors and then crash) but it seems to be working now.

Bought it, errored on install. Went back into Cydia, no longer there. Now Cydia just crashes on me :(

A fix for the Cydia issue: delete everything that starts with apt.bigboss in /private/var/lib/apt/lists.

installs fine after that :D

Although I've found that I still can't dl >10MB from the App Store. It says 'loading' and doesn't pop up the error message, but nothing actually happens ...

I've just installed the 3G Unrestrictor and tested it with the Appstore version of MyBrute (as it's over 10megs) and was able to start the download.

Only thing is, the download process bar never started on the icon. After leaving it for about 10mins I rebooted as I wasn't able to install the game. Now I'm stuck looking at a plain gray icon with a download status bar showing nothing.

I can't seem to delete this icon off the springboard. Holding it down does not show the "x" and the AppStore says it's installed.
In /var/mobile/Media/Downloads/ ; I see what I believe is the file trying to download. Sitting at 0KB though. (tried deleting this file but it keeps coming back)

Anyone have a solution to get this deleted so that I can try to re-download it?

Edit: Why do I always solve things 5secs after I question it. Deleted the manifest.plist that was in that dir that refered to MyBrute and now it's gone lol

I just re-enabled wifi and it completed the download. I guess the App Store/iTunes tricking needs a little more work. ;)

It's not actually "HQ" but YouTube over wifi is much better (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=5858515&postcount=9) than over 3G. Unless you use 3G Unrestrictor, that is. ;)

You have to choose which apps will ne tricked, but it's extremely easy to do so. It shows a list of all your apps and you just tap the ones you want to trick. That's it.

Duke: For the VOIP Apps it will depend on your VOIP Provider, typically you do not need to pay fo Skype to Skype calls or SIP to SIP calls, but usually you do need to purchase credit to call regular PSTN phone numbers, but VOIP is typically very cheap!

I don't know about others but for me $2 is worth not having to edit the plist everytime I want to add an app to trick.

Pretty much for the easy acess and nice GUI. $2 is not that much to ask considering what u get and the work the dev has put into it.

Has anyone managed to get VoIPOver3G to work with the Appstore and Youtube? And if so, what did you do? I've added them to the plist, but nothing has changed, Youtube still plays in low quality and the appstore wont let me download files over 10mb still. I even had the 10mb override on my old 2g, but maybe that was with another program.

Well more specifically it tricks the program routines/libraries that slingplayer uses in to thinking that the phone is on WiFi when in fact it is using the 3G radio.

YouTube/App Store/Itunes does not work with VOIPover3G. You will need to get 3G Unrestrictor for those to work.

i thought it does work if you add the identifiers to the plist. and 3G Unrestrictor is just there to save you all the manual plist editing, right?

also, i can't find 3g unrestrictor in cydia. i looked at the paid section and its not there.

any help?

Search for it in Cydia, make sure you type it right also :)

Ok I am new at this, but I did my searching and found this thread..

I just installed Voipover3G yesterday and It's pretty damn amazing, I could use Skype over 3G while driving.

When I read the instructions about editing the .plist..I tapped into the directory via SSH..but to my surprise... this was already there

"Filter = {Bundles = ("com.Fringland.Fring", "com.skype.skype");};"

SO I guess the two apps I have Fring and Skype, they are both usable over 3G...but I have this another app "Radioshift" an internet radio app that I love listening to my ethnic music...again I've been using this App for years but just over WiFi...not sure if it ever worked with 3G before, becasue I never had the chance to test it... I turned off my Wifi and Radioshift worked perfectly well on 3G and again without me editing the .plist file.

I looked at the file and its still only

Do internet Radio apps (such as Radioshift) always work on 3G signal? Please excuse my ignorance, I never had a 3G supporting iPhone or even a data plan for that matter until now.

If I can use Skype and Internet Radio while in the car...by just having Voipover3G maaan that is frikin awesome!!!
Besides the inconvenience of adding your own list...does anyone know if there are any other drawbacks to Voipover3G? I noticed "3G unrestrictor" is even pricier now like 3 bucks or maybe even 4?
