My desktop icons are starting to get corrupted and show up as the wrong icons (e.g. an Illustrator file is showing up as an iPod icon).

All of the file extensions are correct and I don't have very many things on the desktop.

In OS 9 I would just rebuild the desktop, but I am using OS X 10.3.4.

Any suggestions?

Might this help?

also repairing permissions never hurts.

Ahh, I know what that's like (http://www.thetechpub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=306).

Anyways, appreciations for the link to the utility.

Force Quiting (restarting) Finder is often quicker than logging out then back in.
