iPhone 3G showing wrong storage?

I've noticed today that my iPhone 3G 8GB only shows up as 6.83GB. Now this iPhone was swapped from Apple, my old one had a malfunctioning volume button. But the old one had 7.06 GB or something like that if I recall. Why would there be a difference, they're essentially the same model. :confused:

Update: Hi Again I Have Just Restored My Iphone 3g And It Now Shows The Right Storage The Same As All The Iphones Are Meant To Now 7.08gb All You Have To Do Is Just Restore Your Iphone From Itunes.

Apple always like to upgrade your firmware to the latest whenever you have dealings with them. :rolleyes:

A loss of 1.17GB shouldn't really be a concern to you, although I do believe the new OS 3.0 is a lot larger than 2.2.1.

Consider yourself lucky, however, as I have a 16GB iPhone 3G of which I can only use 14.6GB.;)
