Some Questions On Putting Vista On Mac

Hi, thanks if your reading this because I really need some help and a well experienced mac user can surely help me.

Ok so I want to put Windows Vista Ultimate on My Macbook Pro I bought in June of 2009 so its the new one with the SD card slot for your notice.

I have the Mac OS X install DVD and the application install DVD and I do have the Window Vista Ultimate DVD.

Another big question that is boggling my ming is if I partition the HD for vista at about 15 - 30 gigs will that slow down my macs performance if your not sure look at its specs in the signature and I have 290 gigs left right now.

Another one is can I get some really easy, easy, easy, no long worded, difficult, risky steps please you can type them if you want or get it off the web but I looked everywhere and they are so difficult!!!:mad:

I know how you need to update drivers-so I have heard and I wanted to know how.

So I hope I'm not forgetting anything I need to ask as my memory is being taken up by worrying emotions that I cant finish this because of some character limit I dont know about but if I remember I'll just update the thread.

What applications you're installing will tell you how much space you need. 30 is fine if you won't be really doing anything with it.

And no, we won't help you with the installation. Buy it or get out.

Just download the Windows 7 RC! It's free and infinitely better than Vista.

Bootcamp Assistant has printable instructions built in. They're easy, but if you know what you're doing you don't even need them.

I'm confused; I don't see where there's any indication of piracy in the OP. OP says he has all the DVDs, so how did piracy come in?

If you notice, the OP edited the original post to delete the statement about piracy. The original post referenced obtaining Vista by torrent instead of purchasing a legitimate copy. Nobody in the thread quoted the original post, so those references are lost.

No, the amount of space you give Windows will not affect OS X. The Windows partition and the OS X partition are completely separate.

you are the op ( original poster) and wether you have a copy or not a torrented copy is still piracy, windows doesn't give you 2 copies of vista do they?

Hey everyone,

I was away for a bit so im posting this late.

Anyways I got the discs and there is three of them and I dont know if it will prompt me to insert disc 2 or not so I need that answered and another is that on the vista discs it says this disc wil destroy all data on your computer so I was wondering will it wipe my osx drive or will it not do anything because Im putting it on a partition.

Please answer these question and I need them ALL ANSWERED before I can continue Thanks.

P.S Is it necessary that I back up my computer before doing this? Why?

The way bootcamp installs Windows on your Mac is called dual booting. It means that the Mac can run alternatively from OS X or Vista. To do this bootcamps creates a second partition on your hard drive. It will look and work for you as if you have two hard disks in your MacBook.

The creation of the second partition and the formating of that partition with the Windows disk carries a certain risk of users making wrong choices in the menue. If you install Vista in the wrong partition (the OS X one) you obviously have toasted your primary system. This why it is good to back up to an external medium.
