Hey all. For the past 10 years (yes, 10 years), I've been thinking about getting into The Fall. They're frequently mentioned by bands that I like as an influence, and I think I'd enjoy. It's just that thier catalog is so vast. Any recommendations. A good friend of mine (back in 1993) recommended Totales Turns and This Nation's Saving grace as good albums. Was he right? Any other thoughts? I was happy to see them on iTMS, at least.

Duff-Man says....you can easily go broke trying to maintain a complete Fall collection. I gave up a few years ago...heheheh....but I still have about 20 cd's of theirs. My faves would be "This Nation's Saving Grace" the first album "Live at the Witch Trials" and "the Frenz Experiment." The are a few really good compilations out too - Sanctuary recently issued a 2cd set called "Totally Wired - the rough trade years" which is a really good comp of the early rough trade era stuff.....oh yeah!
