Like an idiot I bought a new mac today and installed osx again... even though it comes installed, from that point i now can not get into safari and it keeps unexpectedly quitting instantly. what should i do, did i already mess up the computer bad?

Run Software Update, just to make sure it's all up to date. (only thing I can think of right now)

If you create a new account do the issues still persist?
I would assume that they used the disks that came with the computer to install it, so that'd be Leopard.

I just want to clarify what is meant by this, incase you aren't sure. iBookG4User is suggesting that you should make a "test" account for your computer, once that is made you should try using Safari to see if the problem exists on this account as well.

What's happened has happened, there isn't much to do now.
Perhaps you could try reinstalling it again if creating a new account didn't work.
