I plan on replacing my internal 2.5 inch hard drive on my macbook with a larger one.

I am looking for some recommendations on brands that are good and what to stay away from.

By the way, does anyone know what brand Apple uses in their computers? That would probably be the best choice since they they are the best computers in the world.

Thanks
K

Western Digital 500GB Scorpio Blue. It is quiet, fast and cheap.

I've got a 320GB 7,200Rpm WD drive in my macbook, and it works a dream, its 7months old and still as fast as it was the day i got it.

I would seriously recommend a 7,200Rpm drive

Whats the power consumption like with a 7,200rpm drive?

Tom's hardware did a review on the most recent 7200 drives like the seagate 7200.4 and the wd scorpio black. The difference is negligible. You may notice a difference in vibration, especially with a unibody mb.

I have that drive, I think it is amazing, and not too slow either.
