I'm typing from my Edge iPhone because my MacBook is frozen.
I tried to open an avi file and it froze Quicktime.

Then then i tried to force quit and that wouldnt work. So i opened up
the terminal and did the killall command to try and stop quicktime

That froze the computer. But the spining wheel is there hapilly.

So my question is. Will it fix itself or do i have to force shut down? I don't really want to do the force shut down because it's bad for it.. :(

help me macro experts! Please!

If it's really locked up to the point where you can't move the mouse, then hold down the power button to shut it down. It'll be fine.

Edit: What exactly did you type in the terminal? Best practice for most people is to use "Force Quit..." in the :apple: menu.

Just turn it off...is it great for the computer no, but as long as you dont have something you forgot to save, then turn it off and then back on again. Unfortunately sometimes these things happen.

The force shut down won't hurt anything, unless you have unsaved documents on the computer. Just do it. :)

I tried to force quit. But it wouldn't work. I entered in "killall Quicktime"

okay I forced it to shut down and now it's happy as ever. Thanks guys :)
a little note, I hate the sound it makes when you force it to shut down..
It makes a sound like it's in pain... ;D
