Hi, I plan on buying the new Intel X25-M Generation 2 as my boot drive and will put it in the lower optical bay. I suppose I'll boot from my Install DVD then format the SSD making sure it's a GUID partition and install OS X onto the SSD, but then how do I tell MP to boot from the SSD??

BTW, is it better to first boot up via my HDD to format the SSD. Then boot from the Install DVD and install OS X in the SSD?

Whenever you install an OS on a Mac, it automatically sets that disc as the startup disc. You can also select which boot device you want in Preferences > Startup Disc.

And like someone else already mentioned, you could just use SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your current drive/settings to the SSD after you format it in Disc Utility.
