So, my first iphone is coming in the mail today, and obviously I am extremely excited - ive been waiting 3 years for this day and finally am able to afford the service costs.

Obviously I am excited about all the apps more than anything, however, being as there are 65,000+ apps out there, its quite hard to find the best ones. I know someone is going to say just go to the top sellers on iTunes, ehh, I dont feel like that works as well as it should... so i propose to you this idea.

Name your single favorite iPhone app (fine, if you really cant decide over two, name them both). Doesnt matter if its a game, a utilitity, a reference, free or $.

Pocket Informant would be the single one app I would definitly not want to do without. An event and task manager, easy to use, and most importantly, it backs up to Google Calendar (in case your iDevice crashes).

Most used however are: Uniwar, Galcon, and Drop7.

If I had to pick one it would be Postage I guess... Every time I take a good picture I make a postcard and send it to friends/family. Its a pretty fun app.

Well you take or use an existing picture and it lets you put effects and captions along with templates for postcards to send to people... It doesn't sound that great but it is pretty fun.

Here is something I made after I took a picture of my Pug yesterday. I used Camera Bag's "Instant" filter and then put it in a Postage Template...

I just find it pretty awesome to be able to do something like this directly in the iPhone and send it out to friends or post it to Facebook, all without a computer...

Yeah it is really cool. I think there might be some other apps for postcard templates out there but I read about Postage on MacWorld and they gave it 5 mouses so I decided to give it a try...

Camera Bag is just a set of filters to emulate different types of classic camera formats.

ColorSplash is what I used to remove the color from the background on the second pic...

Edit: I just checked and it is $3... A little pricey but all of my pay iPhone apps put together probably are less than 1 video game and I use them more...

You are right. I should have paid attention to the intention of the OP "what is your favorite App" as opposed to Apps. It still doesn't make it easy. The AppStore has thousands upon thousands of really good Apps so even boiling down a top 10 is pretty hard.

I already stated my favorite is Postage.. But I want to add that I just downloaded:

F.A.S.T. and it is an amazing arcade flight game.
Castle of Magic is an old school platformer that controls really well for onscreen d-pad. It kind of reminds me of an old game called Little Nemo from NES...
Hero of Sparta is a God of War type hack n slash. It controls just ok for me but it is a bargain for $1.99 on the app store...

I need to try the new Space Invaders and Zombieville since people say they are good...

Honestly it will be hard for me to justify getting any games for my DS when iPhone games are of such good quality and cheap... IMO, the best games on the apps store so far are Tiger Woods, Monkey Island, Real Racing, and F.A.S.T. They could easily be on the PSP...

Still has to be Shazam and Facebook. I think I use these two app's more then any other third party app. For the apps that come with the iphone it would be the ipod function.

I have a few games and few other apps, but really, the main one I use over and over is Shazam and Facebook.

iRagdoll - Generally useless app, but you get to fling a little dummy around, and watch it hit the ground. A little exie compared to other apps, but in the real world, it costs stuff all. Not for the easily shaken.

Rope'n'fly - Kinda like Spiderman, flying between buildings. Frustratingly addictive.

I need to try the new Space Invaders and Zombieville since people say they are good...

I downloaded the InfinityGene space invaders re-make today. It's a modernisation of the old game, and I reckon it works brilliantly. Highly recommended.

If I could pick a couple I'd have to say Mobile fotos; a Flickr viewer/uploader app, simply because I use it everyday. Twitterrific is also a fav of mine, and Beatmaker, this app is absolutely amazing! Just load a sample or a drumkit onto some virtual pads and away you go, making music in next to no time!

Once you get past level 25, the machine gun is useless (too slow). You need the rockets and the flame/laser thrower. They are (in my experience) the only weapons that can fend off the the sheer numbers and speed of the zombies at that point in the game (the saber can help give you a little room when they gang up on you)
