iPhone 3G - Weaker Charge Through Computer USB?

I haven't done anything close to a scientific test, but it seems like when I charge my iPhone using my laptop at work the charge doesn't last as long as when I charge using the wall adapter. Anybody else notice the same phenomenon? I would guess the current through USB is the same no matter what potential the power source has, but my experience is telling me different.

The charge is greater from a wall charger. IDK the details though.
