I was wondering if it is possible to automate/schedule apps to launch at predetermined times? This would be handy for apps such as my RSS reader. This way, I can schedule it to update itself every morning before I leave the house... Thanks.

No. Only the mail app can fetch mail at regular intervals. However if your RSS app has push notifications....
 
Bummer... That's what I was afraid of... Maybe one day Apple will implement a version of AppleScript for the iPhone...
