Actually it's ADOBE Photoshop. :p

Doesn't Preview or Graphic Convertor do image correction?

Might want to adjust you cameras settings ... or use a flash? ;)

iPhoto does, very easily too. Using a flash is the best suggestion though.

Its a pretty normal set up, I am upgradeing the sawtooth to atleast 1.2 Ghz G4 soon and I will be getting a graphite 20 Apple LCD, oh and sorry for the mess:o . But here it is for now.

Funny ... on the CRTs at work (PCs) it looked almost black; it's much MUCH clearer here at home with my gamma'd LCDs. :D

The brighter version is whacked on these LCDs; a good monitor is very worth it.

rickvanr ... you profile pic/avatar is totally silhouetted on the CRTs; i didn't realize you even had a face. :p

Im here at work again and your face its almost completely blacked out (unless i crank up these ViewSonics to ultrabright) ... at home on the LCDs i can actually see the shapes and colors that make up the stylized picture. :)

So, i got Front Row working on my G5 last night ... pretty cool. It'll be really nice when you can buy a fully functional version with a remote. :D

I'll post a pic if i ever clean up my area. :p

The audio quality is fantastic, they have a slight audible hiss you can hear if you put your ear right up to the satellite but you can't hear it normaly (I have to have my ear right on the satellite to hear it) or when any audio is playing through them. For 2.1 computer speakers I'd rate them a 9.5 out of 10, they lose .5 because of that hiss. The hiss that I didn't even know about until some one pointed it out to me.

It is kind of like that if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it did it actuall fall at all thing. I didn't even notice the speakers had that hiss until it was pointed out to me if I hadn't of been told about it I don't think I would of ever heard it. I actually considered other brands of speakers but the Klipsch have the best audio quality for computer speakers out of all of the brands I tried. I'm in Australia though so we miss out on a few brands. I really wanted Klipsch ProMedia 2.1s but the GMX ProMedia are the best I can find. :)

I wonder if you are right about the cordless phone? I have a cordless phone about 1 foot from Power Mac.

Are speakers hooked up to your G5? G5's have a lot of line noise. Disconnect the speakers from the G5 and see how much hiss you get then. This will give you a good idea of how much is comming from the G5.

I have the GMX 5.1 and the hiss issue is a known, and apparently accepted, issue with the GMX line by Klipsch. You can look on their website; they explain that it is inherent in the wiring or something... it is supposed to only be with analog inputs, but I have it with my optical in as well.

Even via optical out?

There shouldn't be any line noise from optical, unless you purchase really cheap optical cabling, in which case I could foresee noise running into it due to loss in the line (like normal). I believe optical was created to decrease line noise and losses, so there should be none, theoretically :p.

The distance that you will have in an optical cable such as one for a sound system is never going to be long enough for loss. Any loss that there might be is due to manufacturing or disperssion (but this is more of a telecom issue with fiber optics and lasers). Any bends, kinks, knots or major stresses on the fiber cable will produce issues, but again the length for an inside the home run for example or a few feet from his G5 to the speakers is not going to be significant enough for loss.

1 - Powerbook G3 Wallstreet 233MHz, 288MB RAM, 2MB VRAM, 20GB
2 - iMac G3 333MHz, 288MB RAM, 4MB VRAM, 6GB

4 - iBook G4 1.33GHz, 512MB RAM, 32MB VRAM, 40GB

Anyone see a pattern with the RAM or VRAM ;)

Inventory from left to right:
Piece of junk 2.1 Altec Lansing's
Pixar Lamp ha ha that is why I bought it though.....
EyeTV 200 (& Remote) (great for converting DVD's to H.264, removing video DRM....a funny sight when I set resolution to VGA, put the video and audio outs into the EyeTV, and record the full-screen output of the PB)
Apple Bluetooth Keyboard
15" 1.5GHz PB w/backlit, 1GB RAM, 128MB VRAM, 5400rpm HD
Griffin iCurve stand
iSight
Griffin SightLight (others badmouth it but I like it)
40GB 4th gen iPod
Motorola bluetooth headset
Apple Bluetooth Mouse
SE phone cradle (for the s710a taking the picture, hence the poor quality)

Under desk:
Airport Express connecting to:
Piece of junk HP printer (only USB peripheral I use regularly thank goodness I don't have to connect it to my PB)
Subwoofer
FW hub

Other Misc.
Maxtor 300GB FW800 ext. drive (normally there would be 2 plugs going into the comp, but I guess for the picture only having 1 plug looks pretty good)
Altec IM3 (in motion iPod speakers)
Griffin iTrip LCD (*phenomenal* product....amazing sound quality compared to the original, easy freq. selection....it's something like $60 on apple.com but only $40 on griffintechnology.com.....if anyone wants to pay the few dollars for shipping you can have my old one, but it's kinda going out)
Griffin Powermate (use mostly up @ school for 3D studio max)
TI-89 w/graphlink (sure glad they fixed TI-connect, that was killing me)

I have heard this a lot recently too. I much prefer the look of the new displays. They look more sturdy, more well built, and they are color matched much better than the old ones. I would still take an old one if the opportunity presented itself, but if it were my choice I would spring for the new ones. To each his or her own I suppose, we all have different opinions (even though all of yours are wrong :p)

It's the best looking phone on the market (at least the US market). In terms of functionality, it's just average. I think everyone buys it because it looks so great, but then they are disappointed in the slow and terribly designed software. I like the phone though. I can make calls and it has bluetooth. That's all I need. :)

Which one do you like better?

its a toss up, heres the pros and cons of each

ibook g4- its lighter , the bottom has more grip on my lap , the airport signal is better the battery life is longer.

cons - its white, so it gets dirty easier. i keep great care of mine, but ive seen my friends get scratched up just from normal use . the screen isnt as crisp as the powerbooks.

powerbook g4- the screen is much more crisp, bigger hard drive, more ram, better looks , better to type with , backlit keyboard, i can use it with the lid closed...

cons - airport signal not as good, battery life not as good, i hear it dents easier ..

my conclusion, ill take the powerbook. The ibook is actually for sale, but i guess i havent been a member here long enough to sell it here ..

its a 14in 1.42ghz ibook g4, 512mb ram, 60gb hd, 8x superdrive, all accessories that it came with, i think its left my house just once . asking 1050 for it .

I would think that is carrier dependent. I LOVE Siemens phones, I think they have great quality (both build and functionality) and styling too. The new(er) S65 is pretty sweet....although the offerings in Europe still greatly outweigh what we have stateside sadly :(

It will always be that way, you just have to wait a few years and then you will have them with as many offerings in the US.

You know what'd be funny. If someone said, where's the computer and it was your iPod that was your computer. Instead of having a Mac Mini all you'd have to have is an iPod and a Monitor with built-in video card. - World's smallest computer. Runs at 2GHz, has 60GB portable music/video/photo hard drive, and uses a monitor that has built-in video card.

Yeah, it's the original 300Mhz clamshell so it can run Panther, but not Tiger. The later clamshell's with Firewire can run Tiger too! Panther runs great though, probably because of the 544MB RAM.

Next week, when my girlfriend returns with her digital camera from a weekend i'll be sure to post some pics of my iBook 300, running panther really really well. Just to rub it in to some of you jealous guys/girls faces ;).
The only down is the 800x600 resolution. Speed is adequate.

Tiger should run on these books using XpostFacto. I might check it out in a few months, for now i'm just enjoying my first mac laptop, panther's cool enough for now.

By the way, I love corner desks! :p

Yeah, I'd love to try Tiger, but I'd need a bigger HD than 3Gb and I would need to find Tiger on CD Media, as I only have the DVD and don't really want to do the exchange because I like the DVD.

Well, I hit the good ol' Wally World at 5:00 am with the weirdo's this morning and now I have a new set-up in my office. I don't know what I'm going to do with this new 15" LCD TV that I picked up, but for $178 I couldn't pass it up. Plus it got some pretty decent reviews on-line ... so, for now I have it hooked up to my iBook with the Screen Spanning Doctor thing, but eventually I may wall mount it and play some video games on it... Now, it's just kinda fun!

This probably doesn't sound very good, but it is a Poloroid brand LCD. I checked the reviews online and really over all it got some pretty good reviews. Especially considering what my uses were going to be .... umm, yeah there must have been some reason that I bought this other than the fact that I really wanted a cool TV because I felt pretty "Goodwill" watching my 20" wood paneled TV from the very early '90's. Yep, I'm pretty impressed with it so far ... I've used it for screen spanning and to watch a part of a dvd and it looked decent.

It is a good looking LCD indeed. $178 is certainly was certainly a fab deal for it. People always talk about brand, but really if it works than it works. Because of the price, if it stopped working before a more expensive LCD TV, than it wouldn't matter. You could just go buy a cheaper one. Anyhow, I wouldn't play game on it, I would keep it hooked up to my mac.

...well *I* don't have a mac that could hook up to that (My two macs don't even have composite video).

hey ebook, where'd you get that nice keyboard cover for your iBook?

I actually picked it up at the Apple Store in Des Moines, IA. But I know you can get them all over the place on-line such as Other World Computers and probably the Apple site. I'm pretty sure it's made by Radtech or one of those types of companys. It's great for keeping the finger oils and key marks off my screen

Here's a shot of my setup as it is today:

http://www.yuru.be/mr/setups/setup_thumb.jpg (http://www.yuru.be/mr/setups/setup_.jpg)
+ (http://www.yuru.be/mr/setups/setup_.jpg)/- (http://www.yuru.be/mr/setups/setup.jpg)

The iBook normally hangs around in the living room (iTunes & surfing). It does sometimes accompany me to school & work.
PC is for occasional gaming and folds 24/7.
The broken 21" (on the left) will get repaired once i have the need for it, I've got enough working screens for now.
Whenever i get my hands on to much money i'll buy me a new battery for the vaio, the wireless card i already have (salvaged from an old & broken AP base station). For now it's just waiting for me to get in to configuring FVWM, i wanted it the hard way... i like shells though.
The B&W is for pre-OSX gaming, i don't boot in to debian that often on that machine.
My shuffle is on there somewhere, at home it normally gets used with an old Phillips radio/amp i got from an ex-colleague. Situated in the dining room / kitchen.
I also have my dad's old Palm, a Tungsten T (not pictured), but i prefer my own Zire.
And to end the brag: the picture is taken with a Nikon Coolpix 7900

Cheers

Here's my set-up. I figured I would share with everyone else. You can see my mini, my pc (which doesn't work right now) and my laptop (work computer). Now I am just waiting for someone to give me a 23" ACD to replace the 17" CRT, and a 15" powerbook so I can lose the crappy Toshiba laptop. Anyone want to contribute to a poor youth pastor?

That is the kind of set-up I like to see. Windows, Linux, and Macintosh. That is what I have here, however my Linux skills are very poor, and my Mac machines are old 5500 series all-in-ones running OS 9.

I do kick it from time to time sometimes because I hate it and sometimes because it is so big.

Here's a new pic of my setup. The subwoofer is from my home theater system, not my computer speakers. That one's actually under the desk. And yeah, that's not a real computer chair, but it's comfortable.

Braaap, braaap, braaaaaaaaap!

< / Motocross rider greeting > :)

Noticed the bars, pipe, and posters :)

Nice setup and desktop props. I have some misc XR-50 and KTM 125 parts laying around that I should setup. Including my XR-50 number plate signed by Travis Pastrana ( Met him at a rally event ), and a few parts broken in battle on the track, including a chipped second gear lost to the whoops :( .

Thanks! Yeah, I like my room a lot. I really need new carpet in here. I'd like to get some hardwood floor, but I don't feel like taking all of my stuff out to put it down. :D

FYI
I removed all pictures with the exception of the picture i was referencing. Next time I will be sure to ask your permission before replying to a post (Yeah right!) .

However to save your finger in the future, you can always avoid picture posts like this as they tend to have long replies.

Sorry mate, didn't mean to single you out. I just meant to comment that of the 63 pages of this thread, pretty much all of them have several pictures shown three or four times each at 800 or so pixels high, adding un-necessary length to the already long page. Another thing that erks me- people with long signatures who don't uncheck the "Show your signature" box when they're posting several times in the same thread. Also, typing in white is a little annoying.
