Definitely one of the nicest setups i've ever seen (those are 3 30s and a dell in the corner).

Again, this is NOT my setup. :(

I remember seeing this early in this thread. That setup was the one that turned me onto macs....can't wait till I get my mini

Oh indeed it is. I had to read that friggen book in 8th grade and Freshman year. It was decent the first time around. Second time around i was going to change my name to Boo Radley and lock myself up in my house.

Thought it was, I had to read it in high school, forget what grade though. It was alright, it's no HP though.

reading now my teacher is really good at what she does, and its a really good book , and hits on some very key issues

MFS!!

Man, you're lucky. We just finished this [english 10 in our state cirruculum (sp?)] and aside from my teacher loving this book more than life itself, had no idea how to teach it. We read most of it ourselves, she interpreted some stuff for us, and the test was over the stuff she didn't interpret and odd stuff that a test would never cover. But she's an overall bad teacher...so its all good

I haven't posted my pic but I've got an external isight, and the only time I ever use it is to scan barcodes when adding stuff in Delicious Library. I'd like to use it with ichat, but have no friends with macs, so my ichat list is empty :(

I use my iSight several times a week. My sister lives in Paris and just had her first baby December 17th, so I use the camera to talk to her and see the little guy. My dad also has one, so we usually use that instead of text messaging. It is really great when the three of us can get on their together and do a conference.
Other people who have one are my aunt in Washington, D.C. and my girlfriend, but she lives about 5 minutes away. We mostly only use it when she goes home to connecticut ( I live here in Vermont). I have several friends with PC's and webcams that work, but I rarely do video them.

I haven't post my setup cause it's a mess, but i do have an isight that i use with imovie to make little clips here and there. I use it almost everyday to chat with my friend in brazil and the other in south africa. The isight is a nice little camera with nice features for the price. I'm happy with it.:D

Wow, that's awesome, congrats on the nephew. I'm about to move away to another college and I wanted to try to get my parents a Mac Mini + iSight towards Christmas time for video chats. They need a Mac BAD lol.

Here's my trusty setup;
[...]
500GB (250GB x 2 RAID 0)

RAID 0 doesn't sound very trusty to me. How often do you back up?

My printer looks the same (1010) and the keyboard too (recent apple usb). Btw, do you know if the keyboard hub supports USB 2.0?

I don't like the phone. Take a look at Bang & Olufsens phones (http://www.bang-olufsen.com/web2/systems/overview.asp?section=systems&sub=tp) ;-) Besides that, very nice setup.

RAID 0 is as trusty as having one drive. It works good for me. I don't have a very stringent backup routine, but all of my applications are on CD or DVD. I try to put all my videos on DVD too, and I'll hopefully be backing up my music on a new iPod in the near future.

As for the phone, my cordless died, and the GE was $20 with CID. I may look for a phone with a more Apple look. The BeoCon 1 is sharp, but probably costs a fortune.

RAID 0 is as trusty as having one drive.

Actually it is twice as risky as one drive. If the possibility of one drive dying is p, then having two drives, the possibility of one of them dying is 2*p. And with RAID 0, it takes just one dead drive to loose all the data.

As for the phone, my cordless died, and the GE was $20 with CID. I may look for a phone with a more Apple look. The BeoCon 1 is sharp, but probably costs a fortune.

Well, it's just that most of the other stuff on your desk looks cool ;) Actually the beocom 1401 doesn't cost a fortune, but some of the others do.

Ok, reading this thread inspired me to post new pictures of my setups. I also now have a PowerBook (which I purchased off a member here - Sweetfeld28 just last week) now:

Here's my main machine, a 17"iMac G4. This machine has all my music, files, and sees use everyday by me. My mother uses it to check e-mail and browse the web at times.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/300hemic/iMacG4.jpg

Here's my G3 iMac, which is basically my Dad's computer now... He uses it for e-mail, playing games, and word processing. Because it's in my basement, my friends and I use this when people are over. Aside of the G3 is my old PowerMac, which I actually still use to play my vintage Mac games.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/300hemic/VintageSection2.jpg

This is my new (to me) TiBook. It's a 400MHz machine (but feels much faster) that I will be using for school notes and on the go web needs. I have it set up in my room when I'm at home, and I'm using an old ApplePro keyboard and my G4's old ProMouse (replaced on the G4 with a Tablet). The TiBook has AirPort, so all music and files can be streamed over to my room from the G4.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/300hemic/TiBook1.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v455/300hemic/TiBook2.jpg

Finally, there's an iHome dock/raido in my room, which is where my 20GB iPod usually sits when not in use.

It's amazing. Owning a PowerBook does kinda make you part of some elite group it feels. Any place you bring it, people look and go, "Wow, that's SO amazing!" Little do most people know that my particular model is about 5 years old. Goes to show you the real quality of Apple's older stuff.

Whats the plastic clips on the edge of the desk, they addons or part of the desk? Would like to get something like that for my glass tables that way it doesn't look like I've got a grand canyon in the center.

Those are actually the side supports for the entire desk. In between the two metal posts are cross bars with suction cups that hold the glass up. It's part of the desk.

Ah pitty, it gives a nice touch to the glass. Looks like I'll need to hunt around for some plastic and perhaps a DIY job :)

vohdoun; I have a 20" (2005FPW) monitor :)

DISCOMUNICATION; connected via nothing more than composite. Euro cube has no S-Video out signal so I'm just using the old cables. No big deal though. Looks fine for me :D

DISCOMUNICATION & DarkBlue-G5; It is an Amiga 600 :) not set up because I can't find my power brick! It's around here somewhere though. Truly a remarkable machine. if I could somehow network it up with my PowerBook I'd cry. dunno what I'd do though! short of transferring all my old DeluxePaint picture floppies over.

It's silly. I got my Amiga around 1991 and it was my only main console (because of its incredible and plentiful games) until about 1997 when I got my N64. But still played often when I had the plug, until a year or so ago. Talk about a long life!

EDIT: notice the phone too. its hard to make out but I called it "iPhone"! The rest are just "kitchen" "study" etc. no imagination my parents!

No "brand-new" but fairly new Macs here.....got my Rev B iMac back in October for a good price when Apple announced the new Rev C iSight-equipped iMacs, and then later on, once I'd realized that I was committed to using a Mac and no longer wanted to even touch a Windows machine, I bought a PB for portability. Yes, I was lucky enough to be able to have been able to afford to buy both machines within a short period of time, and yes, I felt that the expenditure was justified. I use the iMac when I'm at home and I use the PB for toting around town or for trips out of town. A "waste of money?" Not at all. I couldn't easily carry my iMac along on a flight to CA and I needed/wanted to have a computer and internet connection available while away from home. My PB was well worth the money I'd expended simply to have it available for my use during that time away from home.

That said, both of my machines are now a few months old and I'm not rushing out to replace them with the newer versions which have since appeared on the market.... I certainly don't think that I need to do so, my current machines are more than meeting my needs. However, others may feel that they need to replace their current Macs (regardless of age) with the new intel-based ones. That's their choice, their money and their prerogative.

Very nice. Highlights of that set-up would be the second monitor hooked to the iBook, the speakers look like they would do a fab job, also appears that you have everything just where you want them, and that it what is so neet to look at these set-ups because you can tell things about people by looking at them.

LARGER! (http://createdbyjessica.com/gallery/deskshots/deskshotweb?full=1)

I think it's basically done. Behind me is another desk and a TV. To be added is the Epson R1800 that is sitting at my mom's house (graduation present). I also need to buy a TV table so Batman may be evicted if it suits me to have the TV there (which it does). Batman will find a home to the right under the window, which you can't see.

These are three photos taken and put together using Photoshop's crappy ass photo merge. Quick and dirty. Anyway they are 20 second exposures because nothing I did helped the massive reflection in the best movie poster ever!! (note: I'll be unavailable June 30th. I also have that day off work already scheduled. I have no intentions of leaving the movies without seeing Superman at least 3 times). Even with nothing but the light of a 17" crt behind me (running windows), there is still a reflection.

To the left is my new baby Ibanez Acoustic/Electric. Sex.

The tiny looking image on the left are three paintings I did for a woman as a job...they were good so I hung them (eric clapton, prince, elton john) not my favs but they're great artists.

Yup I did that first thing. It still had issues with the fan.
Also know those posters are about 12" from the top of the ceiling and not far from the desktop as you can see.
40" long to be exact with 9' ceilings.

Actually for the price of the speakers and the quality, size and simplicity, I am quite pleased. As for the headphones, they are very light and fairly portable and have alot better sound quality then the ipod headphones :-P

How do you like that desk? Do you mind my asking how much it was when you bought it? I use a corner desk right now, but I need more space and am trying to decide between a larger corner desk and a wide horizontal desk. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The desk was 150 at the time I bought it from best buy. To the left in that picture I also have another one of the smaller sections that I use for drawing and such, it was 99. Overall it is a nice desk, I would actually like a glass desk that is a little wider and with a raised level for the monitor though.

Have you actually seen the new Superman movie?

My setup

Nice. Hanging LCDs on the wall is so cool.

If I can make a suggestion, I would consider putting those cables to the screen inside something white, so that they are hidden.

I would like to see a setup with big Cinema Display on a wall mount and the cables hiddden inside the walls.

Hi everybody and greetings from Finland!Hi. Nice setups. :)

I'm sorry for my bad english but i hope you understand!Don't worry, man. Your English is far beyond what my Finnish or Swedish will ever be.

For future reference, though, try to put a space after a period at the end of your sentences. Without that empty space, it all kind of runs together and becomes difficult to read.

You need to get your wires under control, though... get some wireties, split loom cable, and wire anchors and get those wires as hidden as possible. The glass desktop doesn't help hide anything, but you can still clean up the wires.

Thanks for your comments!

After buying this new desk from IKEA for my PowerMac, I've rearranged my entire room so that the desk faces the window. I find this to be way more comfortable, and I don't get annoying glare on my monitor anymore! (Before, the sun used to shine on my monitor, and it got increasingly frustrating).

It works suprisingly well! The Razer Pro Solutions 1.6 (the white one I have) is supposedly a Macified Razer Diamondback.

Although it is plug and play, drivers are required to take full advantage of the mouse, like programming buttons and adjusting 'on the fly sensitivity'. I downloaded the drivers from Razer's site.

All in all, it's an excellent mouse, and tracks on a lot of surfaces. The shape took some getting use to for me, but now, it's as comfortable as ever.

Cheers.

I've seen two or three setups with really nice glass desks/workstations....where did you guys find them? I've scrapped my original plans for moving my iMac into one of the other two rooms in my flat and would like to keep it out here in the main living area. Right now it's on the dining table, which needless to say, is not an optimum solution, but I like having it in this part of my living quarters. A glass desk/workstation would fit in nicely with my overall living room scheme, would show off my pretty machine, and yet would be a heckuva lot more suited to computing than the dining table!

I have a printer set up on a small table nearby but finding room for it at the workstation itself is not a consideration since I have it wirelessly communicating with both the iMac and my PB. The PB has its own little adjustable and moveable table thingy not unlike those used in hospitals, which is great for using it anywhere in the place, although it would be nice to give it a more stable home on the workstation as well.

So, where did you guys find those neat glass desks/workstations?

Oh, I see the DVI cable now. :) I wasn't aware you could use an external display with the PowerBook's lid closed. Is this a hack of some kind or does it just work this way? Either way, awesome setup. I love how the PowerBook can be hidden, too.

All the PowerBooks do it. You hook up an external display, plug in a mouse and keyboard and close the lid. Then hit the space bar to wake the computer and it will display to the external screen using the full VRAM rather than splitting it between the two screens.

Just got my wireless mouse:

I'm a very happy boy now! But I need a nice mousepad, because the glass table gives my mouse a hard time.
Rightnow I use a big brown envelope which I left away for the photo. It's just too ugly!

i am looking for a glass desk like that, where did you get it?

Just wondering, why do you have the monitor so high up? It seems like it would be hard to look at for a long time.

Ah, I see now. That's really cool. Now it makes me want to do it with my PowerBook and Dell 2005FPW. :)

To anyone that has a desk from IKEA, do you own the $99 Jerker that they have on their site? It can be found here (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15600&catalogId=10103&storeId=12&productId=47022&langId=-1&parentCats=15600*15870*16129"). I want to see what it looks like with a computer or two on it. Thanks!

The picture is deceptive; my chair is quite high so the monitor is at a perfect hight - the middle of it is level to my eyes.

Sweet PowerMac! Why did you choose to have the dock anchored too the right? More screen real estate?

I need some guidance fellas. I received my iMac today. It's a 20" 2GB of RAM, 256MB VRAM, 500GB HDD. Sounds all dandy right? But it's not. Every time I try to turn it on now the screen comes on and then goes off. Before it only did it when waking from sleep. What should I do? I haven't received my AppleCare kit from Apple that I ordered yet.

Please help,

Mike

After unplugging the iMac for about an hour, it will now boot up...I'm not going to even attempt to try to put it to sleep right now, but if the problem happens again I'll leave it unplugged until tomorrow. If it persists, I'll call Apple on monday.

Thanks, right now its running great. As long as I can get the screen to come back on, it runs like a champ. On another note, does anyone know how you can import a current iWeb into iWeb on another computer so you can have the same site on two computers?

Ergonomically, the top of the screen should be at eye level, not the middle.

Beautiful setup, though. Makes me consider installing the screen spanning hack on my iBook. :)

That's a little bit OT here in a setup picture thread, so it might be (is) better to start a new thread about this (or search ;)).
I don't think it's possible, another drawback of iWeb 1.0.

Ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch ch check this out bruva! (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=173666) Booyeah!

It's a file named Domain.site in a folder named iWeb (appropriately). Drag this to the equivalent spot on a new Mac and play away. :p

Big sorry by the way, I've got no idea why I decided to scratch my post. It must be my inner DJ. :o
