Heh. We decided to be all grown up and buy mugs from Habitat rather than keeping the random cartoon and charity shop mugs we had before. But we kept em anyway, so now just have about 25 mugs. Less washing up though. :p

Its always been said its easier too look up at a monitor than down (and healthier)

Wrong! Especially if you wear bifocals.... LOL!

Actually, it's hard on one's neck to be always looking up at a monitor. As has been said, it's really best to have the top of the monitor at about eye level, as then you can keep your head reasonably straight and that is easiest on the neck.

Thanks. I've tried that before but then the external looks unusally low. I'll post a pic of it later on.

If your powerbook is on the desk, what do you use your iCurve for?
And I am sorry to hear about your mac. I need to take my PB in, but it's hard since I am in school and I don't have another mac in the house. I can't muster up the courage to use my boyfriend's machine :(

Anyway, I love the setup, it's sexy.

It's for the PB, but that day I rearranged the desk to make space for the iMac and I had the PB sitting there so I decided to take a pic.

My new *updated* set up!

I've since gotten new iPods, a new 23 inch ACD, redecorated...

I had the old blue "Mariah room." If you'll remember, I said I was about to redecorate: here is the finished result! Still Mariah, but I think it turned out nice.

Very tasteful, warm & inviting. If you were half as hot as Mariah, I'd would wish I lost my virginity in that room.

Excellent improvement!
Curious how does the PB G4 hold up to extensive 2nd monitor & external HDD usuage for things like audio art drawing and high HD video streaming; do any of you worry about internal components getting too hot? Sry its been about 5 years since I owned a laptop (Compaq E500 P3).

PS: Can you please PM a link to more Mariah on the couche photos please?! Thanks.

Yes, they're SoundSticks II (my original USB ones just stopped working).
I'm particularly proud of my cable tidy system. I had a stainless steel tray made that attaches to the underside of my desk and houses my array of wires and power bricks.

It used to be a complete mess underneath.

I'm not really, sure, i'd say around £70 ($120) but for the right set could possibly go higher, it's been so long since i've needed to buy any I don't know what the average price is anymore.

About a week after my powerbook was stolen, my friend showed up with a new one. Since day one i was suspicious, and the first time he brought in the laptop, i looked for a dent i had made on the cover, and various other cosmetic damage. Unfortunantly, i found nothing. About a month later, he brought the laptop to class, and sat next to me. He began showing me various pictures he had taken of me snowboarding the day before. And then he flipped the laptop around and i noticed some identical damage that my laptop had. I began to freak out, when he was looking away, i copied the serial number from the laptop in question, and sent it to me via gmail. That night, i called apple and asked for them to give me the serial number from the order i had made about 4 months ago, and to my surprise, both serial numbers were identical. The next day, the kid came in with my laptop, and i ****ed him over, and got him expelled from school.

Moved from Portland, OR to Crestview,FL in December. I'm still trying to get moved in. I ordered the new desk for my stuff from Meritline and I really like the glass...need a mouse pad though. I also need to work on the cable management, but the yard and other minor maintenance are the priority at the new place this weekend.
Is that your scanner's lid on a stand? At first I thought you had one of those thin Canon scanners, but then I saw the document feeder scanner to the right. Is that an Epson?
I almost thought you had a monitor facing the wall for a minute there. Then I realized my scanner kind of looks like I have a laptop opened at a 45° angle and facing the wall. It's a Canon LiDE 500F.

You're correct...it is the scanner lid for regular scans and the photo feeder scan lid is the one that is on the scanner. It is an EPSON Perfection 2480. I can put 25 photos in it at a time for scanning...rarely get a jam or misfeed. I'm trying to get all the old family photos into digital format.

haha. nice. Im so glad the new iMac has mini-Dvi. But technically, you dont have 43". You actually have fewer pixels than a 30". (-28,000 to be exact)

I'm currently considering that setup for my first Mac, but since the entire line is being replaced by the end of the year I think I'll wait... agian. I'm thinking of just getting an HDCP monitor with video inputs first.
Can you change the desktop settings so the second monitor is on the left and not blocking the disc drive?

iMac is intel, no reason to expect them to change. There are other machines to switch.
There is no reason for only being able to put a second display on one side of an iMac. Completely customisable in your system prefs.

you should ;)

lol, it looks abit brigther than it really is, i just over exposed it alittle bit. It's not so tidy at the moment, but generally i only keep things i need to use on my desk so I don't get distracted. Recently i've been wanting a 12" pb instead, as its nicer to travel with, and the 15" is abit heavy.

The 360 does make noise, but I was going into it knowing it was loud so it doesn't surprise me like some people. I only notice it when I don't have my stereo on, during games and movies I can't hear it at all. My 360 is also in a fairly small shelf on my stand, so I think that blocks a lot of the noise from reaching me. I have no complaints about it so far, never had it crash or anything like that. Now with that program Connect360, it is that much more useful since the stereo in my living room is the best in the house.

I pretty much have the same desk at work. The only difference is that mine has a second shelf above the desk on half of it. The are pretty good for their price.

You should put the MDD tower in between the printer and the phone...plenty of space and Macs are always prettier on top of the desk.

I am still not sure if I bought the right machine. Those iMacs look so sexy. My PowerMac is great, but my ugly 19" CRT and all my loose cables cramp its style.

Hopefully my next purchase will be a 23" ACD and some Bluetooth goods to clean up my desk.

The speakers are from Logitech. Model 5300

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/CA/EN,CRID=2177,CONTENTID=9586

I got a really good deal on them about a year ago. They sound great and for my needs are perfect. The Sub is big but I have it under the desk and works well to rest my feet on when playing FEAR. They sound very nice for music and movies as well. I listen to alot of music.....

Here's my setup at my new office -- this one is located in the Old City Hall building, pretty much the nicest office building in town. I'm signed into a lease on this one -- so I won't be moving for a good long while.

There's some new equipment this time around, too -- notably, I sold by iBook and picked up a PowerBook, and I picked up a professional Sony HD monitor -- the quality is so amazing, it makes my 30" set look like SD!

17, BTW -- Video production really pays off! :)

It's great actually, I'm having a hard time putting it down. It really dives into what the culture of Mac fans is like. The chapter I'm on now is "Macs in Japan" and I just finished reading about the MacWorld expo, some short quotes from those that attended.

It really covers the full spectrum of the community - individuals that have stood out with their fanatacism to the product and the reasoning behind such fanatacism. Definitely worth picking up, I'm glad I did! :D

The going rate for my office is $400 per month, plus a "common area maintenence" fee. C.A.M. pays for the maintenence (eletricity, janitor, etc.) for the halls and common areas of the building -- it's split between all the tenants.

Keep in mind, though, I'm in a small town - in a city like Detroit or Chicago, the rent would be much higher.

If you have POP3 mail get an old mail program like QuickMail Pro and use it as a machine to check your mail. Put an IRC client on it or Telnet or something... I have found some pretty pointless things to use on my old 5500's.

It's a 466MHz G3 Clamshell iBook, with 320mb RAM, and a whopping 10GB HD. I guess that is better than most of the other clamshells, and green was the coolest color.

Here's my setup, 17" Intel iMac (Francisco) and my iBook 12" (Greg).

I'm getting an Ergotron LCD Arm Mount .. so that will clear some of my desk space.
Hows the 910mp? It seems a lot brighter than the iMac. How does the GameCube look on it?

No offence, but I dont like it. It just feels weird. First of all, the iMac probably shouldn't be on the woofer. Its probably bad for the HD and could do some damage. Second, move the woofer to the floor, it will sound much much better and give you more desk space. Third, the iMac should be the center of attention. The other LCD should be the secondary display which you could place to the left or right of the iMac.

edit: Like how you had it before:

Dude...you have your imac on a freaking speaker.....do u really want that computer?

Bless
Hmmm.... yes, I'm re thinking that. I was just tired of having both of them on the same level .. it looks boring with them on the same level.

I change my desktop setup often ... I'll take your advice and put the sub on the floor tonight. I definately don't want it messing with my HD. I am gettting a Ergotron monitor Arm that I'll use to suspend my samsung off the right side of my desk while the iMac is in the center .. it's coming on friday.

Funny story, I had the 910mp with my MDD Dual 1Ghz G4, and it was great. I loved it. Then I sold the MDD and got the iMac, and suddenly i notice that the 910mp is not as bright as the iMac... Hmmmmmm.

So I look up the luminance for both of them. The iMac is 250 cd/m2 and the 910mp is 350 cd/m2! So I called up Samsung and got a refurbished replacement. So now i's great and as bright as my iMac. It works great with the GameCube, it even has PIP so I can play while browsing or other such things.

The only problems with the one I have is there is no battery life, and the plastic by the ports (left side) got separated, but thankfully the USB and everything still works fine.

It depends what kind of table you have, if you have a white or wood table with heavy grain you will need one otherwise you wont.
