I think my 3rd Mac (http://kuvax.net/i/?9502VeteraaniSetuppi.jpg) is pretty cool.

It's got a little upgrade:
-1mb ram
-1mb internal "hdd"/soldered flash-mem in motherboard(it's pretty rare in here Finland)

In future:
-4mb ram
-2gb external HDD
-SCSI-RJ45-adapter and then i use this irc-machine or webserver

lol not the mess, but the cinema display on the iMac.

I have a very slight mouse problem that I'm not convinced isn't caused by the extended desktop on the intel imac. We'll see-- I'm having a hard time troubleshooting it with apple.

Also, I have to tell you-- I wanted the 30" but docs say that it won't work on the imac-- that the largest is the 23". At the end of the day it's a very sweet setup for sure. But I've got the whole "penis on my desk" thing-- you know the bigger the better.

I think I'm picking up a mac mini for the wife and kids next week. I moved the old PC into their room and they're in here all of the time trying to get time on this machine. Don't blame them.

Nice clean setup, but do your knees hit when you move to the right side? That shelf with the XBOX and all seems low.

Nice idea about the Quicksilver case, I may be doing the same thing for a Linux box. I could do without the purple walls and red shag carpet, but more power to you, Austin Powers!

The phone is connected via my airport network to my router (Intertex IX66) which connects to the regular phone line and a couple of VoIP Providers, its very handy as if a line is in use it automatlically dials using the Voip service instead.

Not trying to be a prick either, but that comment was just not necessary.

I was looking into the soundsticks yesteday when I went to the Apple store, but some idiot kids were listening to crap music, so it made me flee the area. Since I was in a mall, i decided to go to a Best Buy and I found some Altec Lansing speakers that seemed to be pretty good, as well as logitechs.
The interesting ones for me were the Klipsch Ultra 2.0 Pro speakers and the JBL Creature II speakers. Any of those good?

Although my main desire is excellent sound quality, I was looking into speakers that would match more with my setup too..I mean..It wouldn't look good to have...lime green speakers with a black and gray colored setup--or maybe it would... But yeah, that's all.

Cerebrum where did you get your Moto V3i? I am counting down the days untill my contract expires with Cingular, and when it does i am switching to Cingular and getting a V3i

I use T-Mobile, and they only offer the V3 (already owned it before). Neither Cingular nor T-Mobile offered the V3i, so It really sucked because the RAZR V3 camera was really low quality and had little memory.

I bought an unlocked RAZR V3i from eBay, brand new, unbranded, and got 3 year warranty fromt the seller's deal with Square Trade. I highly recommend this version of the RAZR if you're gonna buy one.

Well MAC is something else its not Mac OS X. And it kinda does matter, not deathly but it does. What if people call wrote your name with no uppercase letters? Grammar is important:) :p

It is important..but you're in a forum where people express emotions with "smilies," anyone seriously expecting grammatical perfection here is ridiculous. If my name was not capitalized appropriately in a forum, unless altered into a level of absurdity, I wouldn't care. It's a forum, seriously...don't be so anal about it. (This goes to all "Mac" worshippers who want ultimate grammatical perfection when addressing the almighty "Mac.")

I won't debate this anymore, this thread is not meant for grammatical issues. It's meant to post your setups!

Lots of ppl here have creatures as well, I think those speakers are ugly, not sure how they sound t ho. I love the soundsticks, they sound great, and like you mentioned match my set up, the clear and grey are perfect.

Nevermind these grammar nazi fanboys, correcting your MAC or mac or Mac or whatever. You paid for your computer and your internet connection, you can type it anyway you see fit. They need to get lives and get over it.

okay, well I posted these here before but I changed like...1 thing but thats not a big deal...but I took more anyways because what I did with the boxes under my desk & the iPod poster I got from an Apple store...well I actually got 2 but the other one are on the other side of my room so...yah.

http://static.flickr.com/38/122887483_99f83d8741_o.jpg

that big ugly plack cord running down the side of my trim is to a blacklight...that I need to take down but I keep forgetting to.

http://static.flickr.com/36/122887433_6fb98a6462_o.jpg

I HATE cords...they're everywhere...but I spend too much money so I don't care...I can deal with cords...I don't even need the MacBook (Pro) so...who cares.

http://static.flickr.com/39/122887405_8ed9761dfe_o.jpg

thats just the whole thing...i'm trying to get away from the whole green thing...since imi obsessed with it...im about to get my room done like starbucks (theres one specifically downtown [here] that i like that i want it done like)

http://static.flickr.com/39/122887375_b595ca41f6_o.jpg

that is the entire whole forreal thing...when my room is done like starbucks im getting rid of everything on the left side (except the iMac).

http://static.flickr.com/34/122887460_9e9c084393_o.jpg

that is what I did with my boxes to cover up the cords and stuff...i need 2 more apple boxes to fit next to the ipod adapter (which will fit perfectly) and then one more above the smartjoy box then the puzzle will be complete (but i have no idea what would fit there...???)

I don't remember this thread being about MAC Addresses. Again, this stupid argument is based on the fact that some people are anal about things like those when there is no necessity to even bring them up. Did you REALLY think I was talking about MAC Addresses when I was showing my setup or talking about it?--I didn't think so.

If this thread was about harware (or their physical address), not specific to Macs, then the whole ordeal would matter, but since it's not, it does not matter.

Don't argue what is not essential to the thread, it's useless.

One of the funniest commericals about selling cars I have seen.

It starts with a guy selling a green honda hatch with his GF in the background saying "...but who is going to buy such a green car??"

xPismo, they create "pressure" when they're switched on. After a while it just gives me a headache. I've read about other people with the same problem as I have with them, but others are fine.

(I'm speaking about all noise-cancelling headphones by the way - not just the Sony's.)

Yes it is! In my opnion the IKEA Jerker is the best desk ever. It has a low price point, looks great, and provides a ridiculously large table surface.

It should be noted that I'm talking about the single level Jerker. That multi-leveled one isn't so hot.

Start to present

1. Apple IIe with Apple powered monitor, floppy drive, Epson dot matrix printer and joystick

2. Years later. Brief forray into a b&w laptop.

3. Went back to college. 8600 a/v upgrade RAM, hard drive and processor (G3). Went through a bunch of monitors. Bought tons of accessories (the big Tablet for example). Still have it in the basement as a paper weight. Got me through a ton of work.

4. Graduated from college. G4 dual 1.25 mirror Door. Tried desperatley to take as many of the accessories with me from the prior machine with little luck. Two more hard drives, more RAM. Dual monitor. Color laser printer

5. G3 iBook 12". Bought off of a school. Could only do web surfing and coding. Forget Photoshop. It helped tremendously with travel and freelance.

6. G4 17" Titanium. Recently purchased. Wanted the last run 15" but everyone was out of stock and I needed something in a pinch. Got a excellent price. I will be travelling a lot in the next 6 months and I need portable muscle. I use it almost exclusively at home (Mirror Door is way to loud). It is heavy (which doesn't bother me) and sometimes the size is in the way. But it has plenty of torque.

That happened when I got pissed off one day and picked up my keyboard and smashed it down as hard as I could on the edge of the table. It took me about 3 hours to find all the keys as they were scattered everywhere. Put it all back together and it works fine.

fist set up was G4/500 the day they came out. A3 USB wacom and 21" studio monitor.

Currently 1.42 emac, A4 wacom.

EDIT: added gf's emac.

What's new: Lacie d2 DVD burner, Elgato EyeTV for DTT box.

And it's all hooked up to this for sound (yes, that's a Braun electric toothbrush, the cornerpiece of my setup). I've done my best to hide the cables...

Two different Lacie drives - one on top is a 200GB external HD, the one below is the DVD burner. I thought they would be the same length - when I got the burner I was stunned by its size.

That is pretty much what my setup would've been if I got my PowerBook when planned, but we waited too long so I just got a MacBook Pro. I have an iMac slot-loading too, but it is a sage one...

(sorry about the sideways picture, I flipped it in Preview but it didn't load flipped in flickr. ) I got rid of my iMac on the shelves...thats the biggest change...I moves the commodore moniter & nintendo's down one shelf & moved some stuff from my dresser and (main) desk to the top shelf including the lamp. I kept my cellular modular interactive device (haha) on the (main) desk & put the controller on there too so I can play SNES games on my MacBook Pro (which by the way is flippin SWEET). I like my new setup so much better...I don't see as many cords that way.

I had a drill, a chisel, scalpel, ruler, pen, glue and sand paper lol. (and of course the ipod dock connector's and the sync cables)

took about an hour and a quarter not including glue drying time.

Alright, so I decided to update my setup since I cleared out my table more and got a new LCD for my computer(s).

OLD SETUP

http://static.flickr.com/34/121093811_4021010b38.jpg

The screen was nice, but I wanted something widescreen that was like a 20in Apple LCD, but not worth 700+ dollars. So i got the next best thing, I went to Best Buy and got me a widescreen 19in. LCD instead. It was only 300 dollars and didn't have to pay that extra 400 dollars for the extra inch from Apple.

NEW SETUP

(Apple USB Keyboard and Mighty Mouse are connected to 1 USB hub which I switch from PC to Mac).

Aside from this, I use the Apple Keyboard and the Mighty Mouse as my main input devices instead of using 2 different ones. This way I have less clutter and all i have to do was change 1 USB port from computer to computer. I could have gone with the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard from apple since my PC also has bluetooth, but I figured that this was better since I like to play fast paced games on my PC and Bluetooth equipment might give me lag.

Oh yeah, I still use the iHome as my speakers, the remote for it is right next to the keyboard.

Those are only the ones that I use now....I still have my 3rd gen 4th gen and my iPod Photo which I use for portable external storage. Yeah I know it's a problem and I was all ready to get the new one with all the rumors around April 1st.

NEW SETUP

As yes I was considering that monitor, the Westinghouse 19" Widescreen but for some reason I got an Acer 19" non-widescreen from tigerdirect.com and I can't beleive I put off $40 for a cheaper monitor because I LOVE the look and feel of widescreens. But when I got the monitor I was so obsessed with it exactly matching my video card's resolution. Three weeks later I got a new video card and I wish I had gotten a widescreen.

I was freaking out over how the monitor would actually be regarding quality. I will say that the quality is really excellent for a monitor that is so close to a 20in widescreen.

I had bought my old 19in. monitor (the older one) before I purchased my new video card, but then I wanted a widescreen, so I sold my old one for almost 380 dollars and got this one for 300. It was 380 cause I have to ship it to South Korea, so shipping costs A LOT.

It does match more now. I am very happy with it since it matches with my silver colored PB, my black and gray PC, and my white keyboard and mouse :)

How is the resolution? I noticed that it has the same resolution as the 17" iMac, it has 3 more inches so is the image fuzzy or sharp?

The resolution is 1440x900, and the resolution is quite sharp, not fuzzy at all nor looks stretched out either. In regards to it being similar to the iMac's screen resolution, I beleive it is a bit bigger overall, but I don't own one or see many that often, so I can't be the judge.

My new Cube setup, I like it alot!

Very nice! I'm still looking for the right cube as a home server / torrent box... but the locals just ask wayyyy to much around here.

Someday. :)

As yes I was considering that monitor, the Westinghouse 19" Widescreen ...wish I had gotten a widescreen.

I like the looks, and the price, but I can't find any real reviews. Anyone have a link? I was reading tomshardware for low cost & good for video monitors... but it looks like that plus widescreen isn't really available below ~$700

Can you imagine how much HD space you would have then... Let's see...

PowerMac can have 16GB RAM and 1000GB storage (just built in no external drives). 16 goes into 512 32 times, so that would be 32000 GB storage  factor in technology advances so that would probably be 50000GB just of built in hard drive space and then add on all your external drives

Wow that's an amazing setup

First I thought the XServe was your main computer, then I thought the display was connected to the PowerBook. Took me the longest time to find the PowerMac tucked away

chrismcdowell25

I like the chair for the first hour or so but after sitting on it all night it gets uncomfortable. There just isnt enough padding. Want one of those mesh aeon chairs but their a little expensive. I need to pay off my credit card debt before I get a $500-$700 chair. Even then I think that is a bit much for a chair. Any sudgestions on a decent knockoff?

If you look at the old setup it was in a different room. I moved into another room. I got rid of the dell as my server use the PC as a fileserver for my modded xbox. Added in the G5 for some Webserving/Filesahring/Fun. This is all in the old room and the xbox pulls it over the gigabit network for a mediacenter like experience - the tv recorder. In the new room I have the Powerbook Powermac.

Got this refurbed from smalldog electronics a few months ago and then added the 2x500HDD a few weeks ago.

Xserve
Dual 2ghz G5
1GB Ram
1080GB HDD 80 OS 2x500 Mirrored for movie storage
No Video Card

Ordered this the day after it was announced.

Powermac
Dual 2ghz G5
2GB Ram
160GB HDD
9800Pro 128MB

23 inch Apple Cinema Display upgraded from 20 inch which I sold to my brother for the $150 mini I got at work.

Maybe half a year after the G5 purchase I got my portable.

Powerbook
1.5Ghz G4
1.25GB Ram
80GB HDD
9700 128MB

PC in closet
??? AMD
256 Ram
bunch of different hard drives I think 3 or so 160GB

Just got the desk from ikea a few weeks ago it was about $500 I think. It is the Galant. You build your own stuff at ikea which i didnt know so you get to custom configure which ends you want on the base corner piece and choose the legs and what not pretty cool actually.

HP projector with xbox 360, xbox hooked up to one set of surround speakers. G5 is hooked up to the other set. Both are logitechs.

Yeah, the mobile network I work for isn't getting that phone in till late July, and I couldn't wait that long for a new phone. Still, the 810i is a nice phone use and look at!
