Thats one heck of a monitor. Is it a TV or a monitor? Ive always wanted to hook my MBP to the TV if it was possible :P

Viccles that is possible! Did you MBP not come with one of those cords? I forget what they are called but my PB came with one. I don't own a DVD player so I use the PB and hook it up to the tv.

MBP only comes with a DVI>VGA converter, nothing to plug into a regular TV.

Unless you were only going to use it for Front Row, there's not much point in doing it because CRT TVs generally have very low resolution...

I notice a few of the posters have mouse pads? Why is that? I havent used a mousepad in years
Well, I have mine because of the wood table. It causes the mouse to jump with it hits the grain.

The PowerBook G4 came with the things to hook it up(throught s-Video)..it looks good for video and moives but for web browsing its looks bad..however for 19bucks you can do it

(thats the DVI solutions, there is an S-Vidoe adapter also, both work in the same way) You'll also need another Composite Cable

Westinghouse calls it HD LCD Monitor...it doesn't have a Built-in Tuner, which is not an issue because I have my Bell ExpressVu HD 6100 STB and Rogers 8300HD-PVR...I'm currenty using all 5 HD connections...!!!

Sorry I don't have a picture of everything yet. I have to clear off the PowerMac, the Cube is at my place of employment, I sold a bunch of the laptops and the G4 is collecting dust. Eventually I'll get you guys a picture of the G5 though.

Nope, I like it farish, if it's too close it just hurts my eyes. Plus I usually lean on the table anyway :D

phobus, two quick questions, please.

How is the monitor mounted or placed? It seems almost to float.

Where are those speakers from? I made a pair of speaker absolutely identical to those when I was in high school, used Eminence parts and a cabinet I worked from cherry.

Other than that, the setup is gorgeous. Congrats.

Over the years I've had my share of good things, but usually I trade in to upgrade. However I've been running off my 12" for some time now. Great machine. Battery sucks though and is not part of the recall. Thinking about eventually progressing to a black macbook.

This is basically my audio / video and it really does rock for home cinema / downloads etc... Concert DVD's are incredible!!

12" PowerBook 1GHz PowerPC G4 1.25 GH DDR SDRAM
Infocus X2 DLP Projector with DVI to PB and 10ft screen
Logitech Z5500 Digital PC THX Multimedia Home Theatre Speaker System - with optical connection (laser mounted in lounge)

Also to keep enemies from other worlds from teleporting through the iSight using it as a Stargate. (Sorry if I don't have the correct terminology, I don't watch the show but my friends dad is obsessed with it)

Guitar
Mac Pro with external HD sitting on top (and little Ray Lewis figure)
Scanner
23 inch ACD and 17 inch second monitor
xbox 360 controller for windows (to play the games)
under the right side of the ACD you can see my USB audio hub, that connects the comp to the stereo on the lower right
Obviously there are the two stereo speakers and you can see the sub right under the keyboard
further right we have my midi keyboard
above the ACD is my studio mic
and above that my airport extreme base station
there is a second external hard drive next to the printer

I've also got an emac in the other room that just runs little tasks for me, like downloading things that take a while to download

Yeah, the adhesive is sort of like a post-it note but a firmer hold. I had it on for a month and tested taking it off. piece of cake and not a bit of residue. It stuck right back on as good as the first time.

Why have a Mini and iMac side by side? What do you use one for, that you can't do on the other? Just curious....:o

Well, my initial intention was to setup a small home server (mini is quiet and energy efficient). But it didn't work out well, so now I just use them parallel :D

Look at it like this. He owns one of the PowerBooks, maybe not Intel. The ACD is for hooking up either the MacBook or the Powerbook and using as a desktop. Macbook is his, wanted an Intel Mac and also wanted to keep his still fast PowerBook... As for the other powerbook, I dunno, provided by work?

a 30incher might look more impressive mounted. heh.

but I agree, I never really got into the wall-mounted monitors. Not to mention the fact that I am constantly adjusting the angle of my monitor depending on how I'm sitting (slouched, straight up, etc).. mounting it would take away a lot of the adjustability, would it not?

It worries me that the star wars are on the wall. It reminds me of my old place where my boyfriend took over three walls that were 12x15, 12x12, and 12x10 and still had more to hang. Once we moved I protested. Even though I enjoy the figures myself, I felt like I was going nuts with all of them on the wall. ;)

Wow that is ghetto... I used to have that exact same case when I had my Pentium II haha. What processor you really got running in there? Pentium 3 or Athlon hehe.
AMD Athlon 706 MHz, 384 MB of RAM, 200 Mhz FSB,ATI Radeon 7000 64MB Dual display output, 30 Gig PATA HDD, Windows XP Home Edition SP(with various mods as you can see lol).

It kind of does the job, though the newest game i can play(with nothing else running) is Need for speed underground with mid range settings.

course not, but he's definitely fanning the flames, without giving any information. Most of the posts on this thread state that the poster believes the OP, but would like to know what display/macpro config/etc.

I think if you start a thread with a title like that you are obliged to at least answer people.

I think it's a great idea that you used those macs to start out with and get a feeling for the OS. Whenever you upgrade now the machine is going to feel amazingly fast. It seems that you don't need speed because you're a basic user, but that new widescreen computer would call out to me anyways!

I use a Stanton SMX-501. It's a nice hybrid since you can adjust the fader curve so you can do long smoooth mixes as well as scratch. I just use Audio Recorder to capture the mix and then I just add track markers and burn to CD. I'll have to buy some software to do some editing for one of those 'megamix' type recordings where you mix heaps of tracks really early.

Markleshark
Sep 15, 2006, 10:18 AM
I have designed a one, using like inch box section and checker plate and stuff, wouldn't be looking at that much to get one fabricated (I have a couple of friends/contacts that are welders) only thing is weight. Inch box section and checker plate would be fudging heavy, also, it would be very cold. Not that that would affet my Mac Mini (Prolly better, really) but it would affect my arm. hehe.

I really designed it to go with my eMac, so I guess now I have the Mini it could do with a bit of a re-design and get round to getting it sorted. I don't want to use wood, because everything else in my room is metal, or metal-coloured.

Shotglass
Sep 15, 2006, 01:01 PM
Well, metal should warm up when you lay your hands down on it, and definitely looks stylish, but have it your own way. But what about a desk set for laying your arms on? Pricey, sure, but that would solve that problem.

Oh, I understand it would prolly warm up, I do want to use Inch box section and checkerplate, main thing is just getting round to it.

Pardon my ignorance (As its prolly something that I should know) but what do you mean by a desk set?

Shotglass

It's not your ignorance, it's my translation. You know these huge pads (leather mostly) that you put on a desk so that you can put your arms + paper and stuff on them?

Ahhhhh, I know what you mean now. Good shout. Thanks for that idea :D

Also, and on a different note, although I would still accept one for free, I have recently decided I reallllllly don't like the keyboard on the MacBook. I just dont like the design of the keys at all. Just a personal thing tho

I would move the sub away from your Mac mini, as the magnets in your sub don't go well with the hardrive in the mini. Leave around 1 metre distance :)

There's magnets in the sub? *Moves it*
